I’m hiring a Director of Search Strategy at Orchestra.
But this isn’t a typical SEO role.
Yes, SEO experience matters. So does comfort with SEO data. But the remit is much bigger than optimizing for Google.
Search is becoming broader, messier, and a lot more interesting.
People are searching on YouTube and TikTok. Gen Z and Gen Alpha are using social platforms as search engines. And more and more, people are getting answers directly from AI-powered search results, ChatGPT, Claude, and other answer engines.
That shift creates a whole new set of questions for brands, institutions, and organizations: What are people really asking? Where are they asking it? Who or what is shaping the answer? How do we use that intelligence to build smarter communications and marketing strategies?
This role sits on our Strategic Insights team and uses search data as a form of market research. It’s part strategy, part analysis, part product-building, and part client thought partnership.
The right person will have SEO experience, but they’ll also like working with abstract data sets, building repeatable frameworks, thinking beyond the obvious, and helping clients make sense of a space that is changing quickly.
We’re already seeing growing demand for this work across clients in nonprofit, higher ed, sports, consumer, and other sectors, especially as questions around AI, misinformation, and "visibility" in these platforms becomes more urgent.
I’m excited to find someone who sees search as more than a channel, but as a window into how people understand the world. (Bonus points if you've read the book "Everybody Lies.")
Link to the job posting is below. Feel free to DM me with questions, or share this with someone who might be a fit.
