HUGE news: We're hiring a Content Engineer (internal, remote OK) at Discovered Labs.
This role excites me because it's our first in-house marketing hire and you'll be partnering directly with me.
You will be responsible for how we show up across our primary content channels (LinkedIn, YouTube, website) by building the systems that enable us to produce original, on-brand content. Your main focus will be social content.
Some of my marketing friends will cringe because I just used the words content and engineer together. But, just as the word "content" creates distinction from a generalist marketer, the word "engineer" frames the type of person we're looking for.
This role is a blend of both creativity and systems.
The ideal person will understand how to craft narratives, copyedit and simplify ideas, while also knowing how to build systems that enable us to post on our primary channels every week, across the entire team, without shipping slop.
So with that said, if you're not already AI-pilled and using AI and automations in wonderful ways, this is not the role for you. In week 1 you will be given access to a Github repo that already has 1000s of hours invested into it — and you should be excited by this.
Our content is already consumed by 10,000s of marketers and cited by companies like HubSpot and SEMrush. You'll help us go deeper.
We bootstrapped to > $2.5M ARR in 12 months.

About Discovered Labs
Discovered Labs is an SEO/AEO agency built by a Stanford rocket scientist turned AI researcher and demand gen marketer with experience scaling B2B SaaS companies to 8-figures in ARR.
We are trusted by hyper-growth companies like Instantly, Granola, incident and other $10M+ ARR B2B SaaS companies who want to get more leads and customers from both Google and AI assistants like ChatGPT.
We do this through a mixture of content marketing, technical optimisations and off-site brand amplification (PR, backlinks, Reddit marketing).

High-level overview of our approach:
-
AI automation and workflows: We build marketing programs as we would a product. Rather than waste several hours per week on repetitive tasks, our in-house team of ML engineers create workflows with custom technology that let us focus on the high-impact stuff.
-
Senior expertise: To ensure everything is done to a high standard and differentiated, everything we do is managed and elevated by a team of experts. We don't let automation get in the way of quality.
-
Full-stack: SEO and AEO rarely work as isolated tasks. We work across the entire funnel and multiple surface areas to ensure we own the outcome and clients win.
Note: If you want to stand out, please include a Loom video showing a tool, system or deliverable you've produced and are proud of. We'd love to see it!
This Role
This is Discovered Labs' first in-house owner of an established content operation. We already publish founder content, work with YouTube and video partners, maintain content pillars, and use systems that mine sales calls, customer conversations and market activity for ideas.
Your job is to take ownership of that operation, raise its editorial standard and expand what it can produce without making the founders the bottleneck.
You will orchestrate our internal systems, employees and agency partners. You will not personally write every asset from a blank page. You will decide what is worth making, ensure the work is recognisably ours, and take drafts and production outputs from nearly there to publishable.
This requires more than project management. You need the editorial taste to recognise what is weak, the writing ability to fix it, and the performance mindset to decide what we should do next.
This is a senior individual-contributor role reporting to co-founder Liam. It is fully remote, ideally within +/-4 hours of GMT.
This Role Is Not for You If…
- You are strongest at making calendars and briefs for other people, but cannot show work you personally produced and published. We need someone who sets direction and ships.
- You wait for a complete brief before starting. We need someone who mines the material, finds the point and brings a recommendation.
- You treat AI purely as a text generator. We want someone who can build an inspectable workflow, explain every editorial choice and why guardrails exist.
- You report impressions and engagement without deciding what to make next. We need someone who can turn performance into a marketing decision.
What You'll Do
- Take ownership of founder content: run the founder-content operation we already have across LinkedIn and other active channels. Use our existing intelligence, content pillars and source material to choose the strongest ideas.
- Take work to publishable quality: move each founder piece through production and get it to the point where the founder is reviewing a strong recommendation rather than rewriting a first draft.
- Launch employee-generated content: give employees clear topic lanes, training, examples, prompts and editorial feedback so they can publish useful, original work under their own names.
- Enable rather than ghostwrite: build employees' ability to create and revise their own work. The goal is a repeatable employee publishing motion, not a queue of posts for you to write on everyone's behalf.
- Raise the quality of agency-produced content: own the final editorial mile for YouTube and short-form video. Our partners handle primary scripting, editing and production.
- Make agency-produced work recognisably ours: ensure scripts and edits reflect our frameworks, point of view, tone and structure before they reach the founders or go live.
- Use performance to improve the operation: connect leading indicators such as reach, engagement and qualified attention with meetings and pipeline. Decide what to repeat, improve, stop or test next.
- Improve the existing system through use: make targeted changes to workflows, templates, training and quality checks when the evidence shows they are limiting output or quality. This is continuous improvement of a working operation, not a mandate to rebuild it.
The Ideal Person for This Role
- You have editorial judgement. You can look across a body of work, identify the missing argument, cut the repetitive ideas and choose one direction.
- You can finish work in someone else's voice. You can preserve the author's real voice while restructuring, rewriting and sharpening a draft. Your edit makes the person sound more like themselves, not more like you.
- You make complex production move. You can keep internal contributors, systems and external partners moving towards one publishable result without becoming a passive project manager or taking every task back yourself.
- You improve systems through use. You learn an existing operation before changing it, identify the actual constraint, and make targeted improvements while continuing to ship.
- You can act on data. You can name a piece that underperformed, explain what the data suggested and show what you changed next.
- You can direct specialists. You give an editor or agency enough direction to do strong work, then give clear feedback without taking the work back and doing it yourself.
Requirements
- A portfolio showing work you personally took to publication, with a clear explanation of your contribution when collaborators or agencies were involved.
- Evidence of editing, ghostwriting or shaping content in another person's voice.
- Experience owning a recurring content operation across internal contributors, external partners or multiple channels.
- Strong enough writing and editing ability to take an incomplete or off-brand draft to publishable quality.
- A clear example of using performance evidence to change a content decision.
- Experience creating training, standards, templates or feedback loops that helped other people produce better work.
- Hands-on use of AI inside an inspectable professional workflow, with strong source-verification habits.
- Native or near-native written English, the ability to edit your own work to a high standard, and availability for a working day that overlaps meaningfully with GMT.
Nice-to-Haves (Not Required)
- Experience interviewing founders, executives or subject-matter experts.
- Experience directing a video editor, design partner, agency or freelancer.
- Familiarity with LinkedIn, YouTube, website publishing, SEO or Answer Engine Optimisation.
- B2B SaaS, agency, founder-brand or demand-generation experience.
- Experience helping employees or internal experts publish under their own names.
- Familiarity with content analytics, CRM attribution and distinguishing sourced from assisted pipeline.
We do not require SEO or AEO depth, B2B SaaS pedigree, agency experience, paid-media experience, video editing or design. Those can be taught or bought. We are hiring for editorial judgement, final-mile writing and editing, dependable orchestration, systems thinking and the ability to learn from performance.
Culture Fit
You should ideally believe:
- Original material beats generic commentary. The best content starts with evidence, experience or a point of view somebody has earned.
- AI is most useful when it makes a good operator more capable and the work more inspectable. It never removes responsibility for the final output.
- Speed and quality can coexist when the workflow is clear and people take ownership.
You'll thrive here if:
- You like small teams, direct feedback and a high degree of autonomy.
- You would rather publish, learn and improve than protect a perfect plan.
- You are comfortable making the recommendation and explaining the evidence behind it.
- You learn the existing system, run it reliably and improve it where the evidence warrants it.
You won't thrive here if:
- You need heavy management or wait for perfect instructions.
- You mistake volume for quality or strategy for production.
- You hide uncertainty, publish unsupported claims or defend work you cannot trace to source.
- You need a large team around you before you can produce.
What's in It for You
- Compensation: $45k - $65k PA (or EUR/GBP equivalent)
- Fully remote: work from where you do your best work, with meaningful overlap with GMT.
- Access to a working content stack: use and improve the research, evidence, editorial and distribution systems our team has already built.
- Real autonomy: you will own the recommendation, calendar, production briefs, experiments and systems behind the work.
- Paid holidays
Work in a New Type of Agency
- We build our own tools. Engineers work alongside marketers to remove repetitive work and make the important decisions easier to inspect.
- We connect content to commercial outcomes. Reach matters, but the work must ultimately help create meetings and pipeline.
- We publish what we learn. Our research and methodologies become public assets rather than staying buried in client decks.
- We use scorecards. You will know what you own, how success is measured and where founder sign-off begins and ends.
- We keep the team small. The person closest to the work has real decision rights and visible responsibility for the result.
- Turn existing judgement into a clearer standard. Build on our current voice guidance, checks and founder feedback so employees and partners can clear the bar more consistently.
