Come join our amazing UX team! We're hiring a Technical Writer to join the UX Content Strategy organization at Insulet. The Technical Writer will create technical documentation, accessible UX content, manage UX strings, and support content and tooling processes. Remote candidates will be considered, with preference for candidates based in the Boston or San Diego areas.

Insulet is on a mission to simplify life for people living with diabetes, using the tubeless Omnipod product platform. We're re-imagining how our customers experience our products through innovation in our content design, language strategy and storytelling.

Position overview

Apply your strategic, organizational, and creative skills to provide informative content vital for our products and customer experience. A strong background in technical writing is a must. This is a highly collaborative role where you'll partner with multiple cross-functional teams distributed across the country and globally. The Technical Writer is responsible for the creation of technical design documentation, accessible UX copy (i.e. alt text), managing UX strings, and supporting new tool implementations, collaborating with key stakeholders like UX Design and UX Content Strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Write clear and concise design/technical documentation in support of our regulatory and quality processes (e.g., graphical requirements specifications).
  • Responsible for documentation submissions into Asset and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM and ALM) systems.
  • Support process and tool improvements.
  • Create accessible text and other technical microcopy, such as string IDs, within design files with Figma.
  • Manage all UX strings across all products in support of translation processes.
  • Help develop and maintain Technical Writing guidelines within the team's UX writing style guidelines.
  • Collaborate frequently with cross-functional stakeholders within and outside of UX, leading the revision process and any deadlines.
  • Work closely with UX managers to identify impacts and coordinate content outputs for all products / platforms.

Education and experience

  • BA or BS in a discipline related to Technical Writing and the English language (e.g. Business Communications, English), or 1 to 3 years related experience in content creation for a medical device manufacturer and/or equivalent combination of education or experience.
  • Healthcare, life sciences, or diabetes experience preferred.
  • Ability to understand medical, clinical, and technical aspects of diabetes management and drug delivery products.

Skills and competencies

  • Exceptional writing and editing capabilities, especially writing for a lay user audience, with a focus on storytelling.
  • Ability to learn and communicate technical concepts clearly and effectively, with precise attention to detail for technical documentation.
  • Excellent project management abilities and process development skills; able to coordinate 1-2 programs and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a track record of building collaborative relationships; comfort in a dynamic agile software development environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft tools; experience with quality management systems like Arena or Polarion (preferred).
  • Proficiency with UX tools: Madcap (or another DITA-based CCMS), Framer, Figma, Miro, Jira, Confluence, and Smartsheet (preferred).
