B2B Content Writing, News and Journalism, AI and Automation

When I first started doing AI editorial at Every, Dan Shipper gave me a simple assignment: "Build your own Iron Man suit for writing."

Reader, I have. The latest addition to my writing Jarvis is a three-skill team I built specifically for Context Window, our daily briefing on what changed in AI and what we think it means. Now we're hiring the writer who gets to inherit this little team and use it to produce the highest-quality educational content in tech.

Staff Writer, Context Window
Team: Editorial · Reports to: Editor in chief · Location: United States—New York or remote. Candidates must be based in the United States.

Every is hiring a staff writer to own Context Window, our daily briefing on what's happening in AI and what the Every team thinks about it. Every is an applied AI lab pioneering the future of work; we live in the future, we write what we see, we build what's missing, and we teach what works. We package this in one subscription that combines trusted intelligence, storytelling, practical education, and useful software.

You'll publish five issues a week. Each one should help readers understand what changed, why it matters, and whether they should do anything about it. You'll cover new models, products, research, company news, and the ways people are putting AI to work. You'll also report on what the Every team is testing, building, and discussing internally. You should follow AI closely, use the tools yourself, and be comfortable forming an opinion. Most of all, you should be able to write fast, clean copy on a daily deadline. This is a full-time individual-contributor role.

What you'll do

  • Write and publish Context Window every weekday, owning each issue from sourcing and reporting through drafting and revision.
  • Cover model releases, product launches, research, company moves, and changes in how people work with AI.
  • Decide what deserves readers' attention and what can be left out.
  • Explain what the news means rather than simply summarizing it. Give readers a clear view, recommendation, or reason to wait.
  • Test tools and workflows yourself. Try the model, run the workflow, and talk to the people using it.
  • Write recurring sections such as Signal, Steal This Workflow, Inside Every, Compound in Practice, and Permission to Skip.
  • Find stories inside Every. Follow conversations in Slack and talk with people across editorial, product, consulting, and engineering.
  • Use AI for research, source review, transcription, drafting, fact-checking, and production while taking responsibility for the final work.
  • Work with editorial, product, and growth to learn what readers value and improve the newsletter over time.

What we're looking for

  • Experience writing a daily or near-daily newsletter or working in a newsroom with frequent deadlines.
  • The ability to write quickly and clearly. Your drafts are well structured, precise, and ready to edit.
  • Deep interest in AI. You use the tools every day, follow new releases, and have opinions grounded in experience.
  • Good editorial judgment. You can tell the difference between an important story and a loud one.
  • A habit of testing things yourself instead of relying on other people's takes.
  • Reporting skills. You ask good questions, verify claims, follow up, and know how to find the story in a conversation or experiment.
  • Comfort making judgments when the evidence is incomplete and changing your mind when new information arrives.
  • An understanding of Every's voice: curious, practical, and optimistic about technology without buying into every claim made about it.
  • Reliability. You meet deadlines, communicate early when something is going wrong, and respond well to edits.

What we offer

  • Salary range: $90,000–$120,000 USD annual base salary
  • Health benefits, including medical (with premiums covered at 100 percent on one plan), dental, vision, One Medical, and Health Advocates
  • Unlimited PTO
  • A 401(k)
  • An annual learning and development stipend
  • A computer and access to the newest AI tools
  • Biannual Think Weeks, when the entire company takes a week to explore new ideas and work on creative projects
  • For New York team members, the option to work from our Brooklyn brownstone; for remote team members, one additional company-sponsored trip each year to work from the Brooklyn office

How to apply

Please include your name and email address, a LinkedIn profile or personal website, your resume, and links to three pieces of published work, including at least one written on a same-day or next-day deadline.
