Fortune is a global leader in business journalism, renowned for its iconic rankings, conferences, and award-winning editorial coverage. We are seeking a Health Staff Writer to play a key role in expanding our evergreen affiliate content with the purpose of helping consumers make important decisions about products pertaining to nutrition, sleep, and aging.
The Staff Writer will analyze data generated by product testing, write high-quality articles educating readers, and collaborate across teams to ensure articles are optimized in areas such as compliance, monetization, and SEO.
This role requires a keen attention to detail, a dedication to covering health topics with ethics and transparency, and the ability to write engaging copy that presents technical information in actionable ways.
Preference for New York-based candidates who can work from the Fortune HQ but qualified remote candidates will be considered.
Key responsibilities
- Analyze testing data pertaining to vitamins, supplements, mattresses, hearing aids, and other health- and wellness-focused products.
- Assist with building ranking methodologies.
- Write/update 4-5 articles per week and fine-tune them according to an editorās direction.
- Have a keen attention to detail and a drive to ensure your articles are rigorously accurate and stand out from the competition.
- Be comfortable interviewing expert sources for quotes and insights as needed.
- Have a network of expert sources in the health/wellness space.
- Keep your finger on the pulse of current events and news focused on health, fitness, and related topics.
- Be attuned to SEO trends and best practices and comfortable working with tools such as Semrush and Ahrefs.
- Write and edit supplemental health- and fitness-focused content as needed to enhance the content library and build topical authority.
Required
- 3+ years of experience covering health topics.
- Well versed in writing about health, wellness, and fitness.
- Experience in writing a variety of content types including rankings and reviews.
- An excellent grasp of AP Style and English grammar.
- The ability to adapt your writing to fit with Fortuneās style and readership.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency working with Google Sheets and Excel.
- The ability to collaborate across teams to optimize content.
- Exceptional time management skills and the ability to juggle multiple assignments.
- Familiarity working in WordPress or a similar CMS.
Total Salary: Upto $100,000/Year
