Social Media Manager

hello— more than just the messenger here, our Digital team at the New York City Council is hiring a social media manager! I will be working very closely with this person :) If you have experience running high-stakes institutional social media, planning exciting creative content/campaigns, and writing/scheduling copy about fast-moving news cycles, I’d love to hear from you. This role will assist me in focusing on managing and growing the Council’s social presence while helping communicate city policy and legislative work to New Yorkers.

We're expecting this role to be hybrid (2-3 days in office and the rest remote), with occasional work on evenings/weekends. Candidates should be based in, or willing to relocate to, NYC as this is a city government job. I don't have exact details on salary yet unfortunately (our senior leadership will ultimately decide compensation based on experience and other factors), but I will personally say that I believe the Council compensates employees generously compared to other municipal bodies/nonprofits/institutions I've worked with.
