We believe that supporting boys means creating space for them to develop the communication skills, emotional resilience, empathy, and self-awareness they need to thrive.

As Boys Who Write's Social Media Specialist, you will lead our organic social media presence across Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube, creating content that engages boys and young men while promoting positive masculinity. This role is responsible for developing and executing social media strategy, creating relatable and culturally relevant content, and using audience insights and performance data to continuously improve our approach.

  • Create and publish engaging organic content that reflects Boys Who Write's mission, promotes positive masculinity, and resonates with boys and young men.
  • Create compelling digital content around the Boys Who Write curriculum, exploring platforms such as YouTube and Twitch to build an online presence where boys can interact with, learn from, and engage with the program beyond traditional sessions.
  • Develop content from a range of formats, including short-form video, graphics, carousels, interviews, trends, educational content, and behind-the-scenes storytelling.
  • Use audience insights and research to develop messaging and content that feels relatable, relevant, and authentic to boys and young men.
  • Monitor social media trends and identify opportunities to experiment with new formats, topics, sounds, and creative approaches.
  • Track and analyze social media metrics, regularly evaluating reach, engagement, views, and other key performance indicators to understand what content is resonating.
  • Test, learn, and iterate. Trial and error is encouraged; the Social Media Specialist should be comfortable trying new ideas, learning from performance, and adjusting the strategy accordingly.
  • Stay up to date on platform trends and best practices across Instagram and TikTok.
  • Collaborate with the Boys Who Write team to identify stories, program moments, student experiences, and organizational updates that can be translated into compelling social content.

Preferred qualifications

  • Prior experience managing social media accounts, particularly Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.
  • Experience creating organic social media content, including short-form video.
  • Strong understanding of social media trends, platform best practices, and what makes content engaging.
  • Experience or demonstrated interest in positive masculinity, boys and young men, mentorship, youth development, literacy, education, or related topics.
