Social Media Manager

Los Angeles / Hybrid

Bestselling author and speaker Daria Burke is seeking a highly creative Social Media Manager with a primary focus on Instagram and additional distribution across LinkedIn, Threads, and Pinterest (as applicable).

This part-time role is to work with Daria on her social media with a focus on her USA Today bestselling memoir, Of My Own Making and related themes. The right person for this role loves transforming long-form concepts and narratives into content for short-form platforms—translating books, reviews, articles, speeches, and podcast clips into high-impact social storytelling. Someone who is deeply engaged with and excited by human behavior, personal transformation and flourishing, and the conditions that allow us to live well and on purpose.

Role Overview

Content Strategy & Creation

• Create social media bible for Of My Own Making
• Translate book concepts and reviews, podcast clips, speeches, longform articles, and voice and typed notes into compelling social narratives specifically for Instagram reels, carousels, and static posts with captions
• Develop recurring content franchises aligned with key themes: personal development, resilience, post-traumatic growth, and possibility thinking
• Pitch, create, and edit original social-first content, including short-form video, Stories, and Reels
• Optimize content across Instagram, Threads, and Pinterest, ensuring each platform reflects a cohesive yet native voice
• Work with Daria in-person to capture on-the-ground video content

Analytics & Growth

• Track performance metrics and produce weekly reporting
• Run structured experiments to drive measurable growth
• Continuously refine strategy based on data

Desired Qualifications

• Highly creative, with a sharp editorial instinct and voice with an eye for compelling, on-brand visuals that work for social
• 3+ years of experience managing and scaling public figure social accounts (10K+)
• Exceptional writing and editing skills with talent for tone, nuance, and detail
• Aptitude for translating complex ideas and transforming long-form thinking into accessible, platform-native, high-performing content
• Fluent in Instagram strategy, platform mechanics and analytics; strong working knowledge of Threads and Pinterest
• Proven experience creating short-form video (for Instagram Reels)
• Proficiency in using creative programs and editing tools like InDesign / Photoshop / Canva is a plus
• Preference for candidates with experience working with authors, public intellectuals, executives, founders, premium brands, and/or editorial storytelling
• Demonstrated excellence, professionalism, and confidentiality
• Self-starter and independent worker, comfortable being proactive and managing multiple deadlines
• Data-literate, with experience using analytics to refine strategy
• Is inspired by Daria’s voice and mission, and the power of behavior change; is energized by emerging insights in neuroscience and psychology, personal growth, identity and human flourishing
• Has an interest in influencer marketing and digital media, embraces innovation, is meticulous with details, and possesses the ability to prioritize multiple campaigns and stay highly organized in a creative, rapidly expanding environment

Compensation & Schedule

• 10 hours per week
• Paid bi-weekly
• Target start date: June 8
• Hourly pay range: $35 - $40 (negotiable based on experience)
