Role Summary

The Social Content Strategist is an independent contractor responsible for owning social media content calendar planning and execution across internal team accounts. This role coordinates with writers, designers, and account stakeholders to bring content concepts to life while ensuring alignment with brand priorities and business goals. The contractor balances forward-looking strategic planning with ongoing performance optimization, using insights and platform data to inform content direction. Work is delivered on a project or deliverable basis and executed independently.

Core Skillsets Required

Social Media Strategy & Planning

  • Proven experience developing and managing social media content calendars
  • Strong understanding of content mix, cadence, and platform-specific best practices
  • Ability to align content strategy with broader business and marketing goals

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Experience collaborating with writers, designers, and account teams
  • Ability to translate strategy into clear briefs and actionable direction
  • Comfortable coordinating deliverables without direct supervision authority

Performance Analysis & Optimization

  • Familiarity with social media analytics and performance metrics
  • Ability to evaluate content performance and adjust strategy accordingly
  • Experience identifying trends, opportunities, and optimization levers

Execution & Workflow Management

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage timelines, approvals, and deliverables independently
  • Experience working from campaign goals, briefs, or quarterly priorities

Independent Contractor Readiness

  • Operates autonomously and may serve multiple clients
  • Works on a per-project, per-calendar, or per-campaign basis
  • Uses their own tools, systems, and processes to manage work

Contractor Engagement Scope

Scope of Work

  • Development and management of social media content calendars as defined per project or statement of work
  • Strategic coordination with creative contributors to support execution

Work Structure

  • Engagement is project-based and outcome-focused

Relationship
