Senior SEO Technical Manager

Location: We offer hybrid working, with an expectation that you'll be present at one of our Holland & Barrett offices in London (W1G 9DQ) or Nuneaton (CV10 7RH) for a minimum of 2 days per week. You'll need to spend at least one day in Nuneaton, which is Head office.

The Role:

Holland & Barrett operates across multiple markets and domains - UK, Ireland, Benelux - with an omni-channel platform that's growing in complexity. Organic search is a significant commercial lever for us, and right now there's meaningful ground to gain. This role exists to find it, prioritise it, and work with engineering and product to actually deliver it.

If you're the kind of technical SEO who gets frustrated watching good opportunities sit in a backlog because nobody made the commercial case clearly enough - this should appeal.

What you'll actually be doing

  • Owning and delivering the technical SEO roadmap across a shared multi-domain platform, tied to traffic, revenue and commercial targets
  • Improving crawl efficiency, indexation and site architecture at scale - identifying and resolving the issues that are costing us visibility
  • Working directly with engineering and product to get SEO built into platform development from the start, not bolted on afterwards
  • Translating SEO requirements into scalable solutions across templates, internal linking and structured data
  • Managing performance across UK, Ireland and Benelux - balancing consistency with what each market actually needs
  • Building SEO forecasts that model the commercial impact of technical changes and support clear prioritisation decisions
  • Monitoring how discovery is evolving across search engines, AI assistants and social platforms - and making sure we're technically ready for what's coming

How we'll see your impact

  • Organic traffic and revenue are moving in the right direction, with technical SEO clearly driving the uplift.
  • Crawl health and indexation are measurably improved across key areas of the site.
  • Scalable solutions are landing across multiple markets without duplication or fragmentation.
  • SEO is genuinely embedded in how the platform is built - not treated as an afterthought.
  • Stakeholders understand what technical SEO is delivering and why it matters commercially.

The Person:

What you'll need

  • Substantial technical SEO experience in large-scale ecommerce or multi-domain environments
  • Deep understanding of crawling, rendering, indexation and site architecture - and the ability to diagnose what's actually causing a problem
  • Proven experience working with engineering and product teams in complex platform environments
  • Confidence building SEO forecasts and connecting technical work to commercial outcomes
  • Strong analytical skills and fluency with data - you can find the story and tell it clearly
  • An understanding of how discovery is shifting across search engines, AI-driven platforms and social ecosystems, and what that means technically
  • The communication skills to make complex SEO concepts land with non-technical stakeholders

What we offer

  • The salary reflects impact of the role
  • 25 days holiday + 8 Bank Holidays
  • 25% staff discount across our range - plus free online delivery so you can live the wellness you help deliver.
  • Pension contributions - because future-you deserves a break.
  • Free wellness diagnostic tests - knowing your health is the first step to improving it.
  • Exclusive discounts on wellness services, gym memberships, and more.
  • Perks from other retailers - discounts, advice, and savings from brands you actually use.
  • A culture of wellbeing - from mental health support to menopause coaching, we're serious about helping you feel your best.

Holland and Barrett is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome diverse perspectives and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all colleagues. We understand that when our colleagues are listened to, respected and valued for who they are, we build an organisation with belonging at its heart – making health and wellness a way of life for everyone.
