Included VC Africa was built on the success and network built over the previous five years, ensuring the same global standard, with a locally focused approach that encapsulates the unique realities of the African early stage investment space. Importantly, it’s focused on the investment ecosystem more broadly representing all players investing in early stage tech companies and small and medium size enterprises inclusive of VC, CVC, family offices, venture programs, impact investors, fund of funds, catalytic capital from foundation and non profit structured entities, development agencies and DFIs.
Included VC Africa Vision
Our vision is ambitious: to cultivate a diverse community of investors across all 54 African countries and grow the continent’s early‑stage investor ecosystem from within. By doing so we empower individuals and build a more connected, resilient, and inclusive investment landscape.
Role Overview
The Included VC Africa Operations & Community Manager (OCM) role is designed for a person who will grow into running the show - leading efforts across applications, program design, Fellow experience, and Fellowship execution.
The ideal candidate brings experience and networks in the entrepreneurial and investment ecosystem, is a strong executor, and has a genuine passion for community-building and being part of creating a more inclusive investment ecosystem in Africa. This person can command a room with confident presence, inspire others through clear leadership, listen with genuine humility, and willingly handle day -to-day administrative tasks as needed
Included VC Africa is a lean team, so you’ll have meaningful autonomy and ownership over your work. This role spans operations, experience design, and hands-on execution. You’re as comfortable designing new initiatives as you are managing the operational detail - from scheduling and coordination to communications and follow-through, that ensures every part of the Fellowship runs at a high standard.
What you will do:
- Own and evolve our operational infrastructure - actively identifying where AI tools, automations, and smart workflows can eliminate friction, save time, and raise the quality of what we deliver. You won't wait to be told what to automate; you'll spot it and build it.
- Deepen Included VC Africa’s community partnerships - ensuring broad coverage, particularly in under‑served markets to advance the organisation’s vision.
- Lead the application process - refining screening criteria, interviewing candidates, communicating with future applicants.
- Take pride in the operational backbone of the Fellowship - managing the coordination, communications, systems, and follow-through that ensure everything runs smoothly and at a consistently high standard.
- Coordinate with Founder/CEO to provide world-class experiences.
- Over time build relationships - with founders, investors, sponsors, and others across the Included VC Africa Global community.
- Design and launch new experimental offerings - based on feedback and your own creativity.
- Sweat the small stuff - ensuring we give Fellows & speakers and anyone within our community a highly professional experience with every last detail prepared, from warm intro email to thank you message.
- Proactively identify and facilitate career opportunities - for Fellows by matching them with relevant roles, coordinating warm introductions, and supporting their transition into the investment ecosystem.
- Design the conditions - so that each cohort in addition to our network at large, becomes a self-organising community with the purpose of supporting each person’s journey through technology and entrepreneurship.
- You’ll build and maintain meaningful relationships - across the global venture and startup ecosystem.
- Ensure Fellows have an experience they consistently describe as career-defining, community-shaping, and unlike anything else they’ve experienced professionally.
- Be the go-to point of contact - for all Fellows, and will be our eyes and ears on-the-ground building strong relationships with each Fellow.
Who you might be:
- High output, execution, and hustle – an ability to own everything from operations to the experience to education, and an eagerness to dive into the nitty-gritty.
- Natural community-builder – understands the long-game, and how to cultivate positive-sum value
- Has a strong "spirit of service" - where you think first how you can give, rather than take, and always seek opportunities to support Fellows to the max of your ability.
- Meticulously detail-oriented and organised – able to juggle many priorities while not dropping any balls.
- Great interpersonal skills, charisma - enjoy building new relationships
- Strong communication skills - verbal, written and presentational
- Thrives comfortably operating in a lean, high-ownership environment where priorities evolve and initiative is required.
A note on how we operate - Included VC Africa runs lean and delivers at a high standard. That means AI tools, automations, and smart workflows are going to be central to how we operate, and we're looking for someone who is genuinely excited to be at the frontier of that, not just comfortable with it.
- You don't need to be a developer. But you should be the kind of person who finds a repetitive task and immediately thinks "I could automate this," then actually does it. Experience with tools like Zapier, Make, Notion, Airtable, or AI-assisted workflows is a strong signal. Curiosity and speed of learning matter more than a specific tool stack.
- *If this feels like a stretch rather than a natural fit, this probably isn't the right role.
Why join us:
- Be part of a mission with high leverage: train the next generation of diverse investors across Africa.
- Significant autonomy, leadership opportunity and career path potential to Operations & Community Director.
- Remote work and flexible schedule; collaborate with a small, high‑impact team and global partners.
- Fellows say great things about us
- Work that is both strategic and deeply human - designing experiences Fellows call career‑defining.. and then some.
Other things to know:
- What are you exceptional at: This role touches a lot: operations, community, AI systems, communications, relationship-building, program design. We know it's a wide brief, and we're not expecting someone who's mastered all of it. If you're exceptional at some and genuinely strong at the rest, we want to hear from you. Be honest with yourself, and with us, about where you shine and where you'd grow into the role.
- Feedback: We read every application carefully and personally. As a small team, we're not able to offer individual feedback, so if that's something you're counting on, it's worth keeping in mind before you apply.
- Time commitment: Full-time preferred, though we are open to part-time arrangements for the right candidate.
Our values:
- Kindness
- Pay it forward and backwards
- Don't compete
- Sparkle
