Aboard builds business apps using a powerful, AI-enhanced platform, combined with a team of expert engineers with proven, old-school software know-how. All at a fraction of the cost of traditional product development. Our mission is to ship custom software for organizations by leveraging AI-powered technology to quickly yield right-sized, low-friction tools to run their business better.

We’re looking for a great communicator to help us get our message out to the world and to help make sense of the very fresh new landscape we’re roaming around in. This role will lead the way on our social campaigns, sponsorship and ad messaging, comms projects and resources, our in-office events series, and helping find ways for us to appear in more places and reach more people. In order to do that, this person will need to perform plenty of research—into competitors, into press opportunities, into who we should be in conversation with around AI and software, into where we should be spending to enhance our chances of reaching new audiences. You don’t need to be an expert on AI or software, but you do need to be ready to learn about how this world is evolving, what ideas are rising to the surface, and how we can make our voice heard amid all the noise out there.

Requirements:

  • Very strong verbal and written communication skills - we want someone who can write with confidence, intelligence, and humor to put forward the human side of software development that we prioritize. And you’ll need to like making phone calls!
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills - you’ll be assessing campaigns, communication strategies, and marketing efforts, and need to come up with clear, concise judgments on what is admirable, what’s horrible, and what we can learn from.
  • Experience with social media posting conventions, including platform-specific specs, requirements, and best practices, and familiarity with using social management tools (we use Buffer; it’s pretty intuitive).
  • Ability to organize and record research in ways that will make key information and key takeaways easy to see and digest.
  • Comfort with presenting findings to leadership and making recommendations based on research for where we should direct our work and attention.
  • Comfort and at least a passing familiarity with the world of tech/software/AI, major players, and outlets publishing significant stories about the topics. And willingness to soak up more on these topics.
  • Organized and efficient - this role includes a lot of things to juggle, and a lot of reporting will be required on project status, findings, and roadblocks to clear.

Responsibilities:

  • Own our product-focused social strategy: plan and post to promote and educate about our product offering, our value proposition, and what makes us a unique choice in the software market.
    • Working with provided copy—and taking some swings on your own expression whenever possible—to inject originality, personality, and encourage interest and engagement.
    • Working with our designer to create compelling visuals
    • Opportunistic posting around news or events relating to AI and software
    • Similarly, identifying moments—news events, product announcements, significant articles—that our founders could use to create thought-leader posts, and creating prompts, then putting together the posts (adding visuals, tags, etc.) and scheduling.
  • Find press and other opportunities for our team to show up in the world and talk about our work and our ideas, and draft and circulate press releases
  • Help plan, prepare for, and manage live events in our office and elsewhere, ensuring we get great speakers, great moderators, and great audiences who are eager to learn about the world of AI and software, and about us.
  • Research into sponsorship opportunities for our product, our podcast, and our newsletter, and help in handling calls to get info on them and pricing.
    • We need to identify excellent newsletters and podcasts in the tech/software/AI/business space (and others, if they will get us the notice of the people we want to talk to us) with engaged audiences that match our ideal customer profile.
  • Help setting up sponsorships, gathering requirements, settling on timing, working with creative, and putting together campaigns
  • Research into our competitive set, analyzing how they deploy content and social initiatives, what kind of engagement they get out of it, and where we could learn and adapt to our own needs and abilities.
