Position: Game Script Writer

Company Overview

Jalan Journey is a multi-award-winning digital game studio that develops interactive experiences centred on social and environmental causes. Our projects use gameplay to cultivate empathy, critical thinking, and awareness of real-world issues.

We are seeking a Game Developer who can contribute to our upcoming project In Confidence, bringing technical expertise, creativity, and a strong sense of purpose to a collaborative development environment.

Project Overview

Inspired by JudgeSim, In Confidence is a narrative-driven simulation game where players step into the role of a youth counsellor at a fictional early intervention centre.

Developed in collaboration with a national anti-drug initiative and a leading social service organisation, the game explores real-world issues of substance misuse (drugs, vapes, inhalants, prescription abuse) through confidential case assessments, dialogue choices, and decision-making systems.

Players must build trust, make ethical choices, and manage procedural dilemmas, reflecting empathy, integrity, and social responsibility.

What You Can Expect

• Commitment: ~8 hours/week (1 day); part-time preferred
• Compensation: $300–$900+ per project (CPF not included)
• Arrangement: Hybrid, flexible schedule; deliverables-focused
• Work Mode: Contract-based; remote with occasional in-person meetings
• Credit: Featured project portfolio display on your resume and our website
• Exposure: Opportunities to be at media events, showcases, and conferences, with potential features in press coverage and partner campaigns

Responsibilities

• Write compelling dialogue and scripts for multiple characters across game scenarios
• Develop distinct character voices, personalities, and emotional arcs
• Collaborate with designers and developers to integrate narrative into gameplay
• Craft branching dialogue, decision points, and interactive story moments
• Align narrative with educational or thematic objectives of the game
• Iterate on scripts based on playtesting, feedback, and production needs

Essential to Have

• Proven experience in creative writing, scriptwriting, or narrative design
• Ability to write engaging, natural dialogue across different tones and audiences
• Understanding of storytelling in interactive or game-based formats
• Strong collaboration and communication skills
• Ability to adapt writing style based on feedback and project direction
