Freelance Weekend Writer/Editor

Guessing Headlights is looking for a freelance weekend Writer/Editor to help cover viral automotive, transportation, police, and odd news stories.

Requirements:
• Must be located in the United States
• Must be based on the East Coast (or able to work East Coast hours)
• Available Friday–Sunday
• Strong writing, editing, and fact-checking skills
• Comfortable working in WordPress
• Able to quickly identify compelling stories and turn them into publishable articles
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced news environment and meet daily publishing goals
• Familiarity with viral news, automotive news, police reports, and social media sourcing is a plus

Responsibilities:
• Research, write, and edit stories
• Verify facts and source material
• Format and publish content in WordPress
• Monitor news and social media for story opportunities
• Produce approximately 5–6 published stories per day
• Maintain Guessing Headlights editorial standards

Compensation:
• Rates start at $25 per hour
• Additional opportunities may be available for experienced candidates who can consistently produce high-quality work
