We're Hiring: Freelance Travel Trending News Writers

We're continuing to grow and are looking to add additional writers to our travel trending news team.

This is not a traditional travel writing role. We're not looking for destination guides or hotel reviews. We're looking for journalists and news-minded writers who can identify stories people are already talking about online and turn them into compelling articles for a national audience.

If you're constantly spotting interesting stories on Reddit, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, local news sites, government agency pages, and online communities before they hit the mainstream, this may be a great fit.

Topics we regularly cover include:

• Airline and airport news
• National parks and public lands
• Wildlife encounters and unusual outdoor stories
• Road trips and roadside attractions
• Hiking, camping, and outdoor recreation
• Theme parks and tourist destinations
• Travel scams, consumer alerts, and safety issues
• Viral travel stories and social media trends

The ideal candidate has strong news instincts, understands what captures attention online, and can quickly turn emerging stories into engaging content.

Requirements:

• U.S.-based (East Coast preferred)
• Journalism or digital publishing experience
• Strong news judgment
• Ability to identify trending stories independently
• Weekend and/or morning availability preferred

This is a 1099 freelance position starting at $25+/hour, depending on experience.
