We are seeking experienced Freelance Social Media Intelligence Writers to support our growing research and reporting workload. This role is ideal for experienced writers with a strong understanding of social media ecosystems, excellent written English and the ability to translate complex online discourse into clear, client-ready intelligence.
About the role
You will work closely with our Head of Insight and the editorial and research team to analyse social media accounts and conversations and produce high-quality intelligence reports for clients.
Typical tasks include
- Researching and analysing high-profile individuals’ social media accounts (athletes, celebrities, influencers, musicians, etc.)
- Writing clear, structured reputation and risk reports based on social media findings
- Analysing social media conversations around individuals using social listening tools (experience with Talkwalker, Brandwatch, Meltwater or similar tools a plus)
- Identifying trends, emerging risks, sentiment shifts and key narratives across platforms
- Summarising large volumes of social data into accurate, impartial intelligence
- Applying InsightX’s internal style, tone and risk-category framework
- Ensuring all reporting is factually sound, well-evidenced and written in high-quality British English
- Upholding strict confidentiality at all times
About you
We are looking for writers who can demonstrate:
- Proven experience in social media analysis, journalism or intelligence writing
- Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to simplify complex online narratives without losing nuance
- A strong understanding of major social platforms and online behaviour is essential
- Hands-on experience using social listening tools (e.g. Talkwalker, Brandwatch, Meltwater or similar)
- Strong analytical judgement and meticulous attention to detail
- Ability to work remotely, manage deadlines and collaborate with researchers
- Ability to respond to work requests with short notice
- Reliability, discretion and professionalism
Bonus: We are currently especially interested in writers who can read and understand Japanese or other languages, although this is not a requirement.
