Background
ClientEarth is seeking a part-time freelance content creator (approximately 2-3 days per week) to support a three-month pilot project focused on three strategic communications themes:
- Environmental Rights
- Ocean Protection
- Big Corporations Accountability
The role will support ClientEarth's Digital Communications team in increasing awareness, understanding and engagement with these themes among key digital audiences in Europe and the US.
We are looking for a creative, audience-first content creator who is comfortable in front and behind a camera, and who can translate complex legal and environmental issues into compelling, platform-native content that resonates with online audiences beyond our core supporters. The successful consultant will help connect ClientEarth's core messages to news, trends, culture and everyday conversations, making our work more accessible, relevant and impactful.
Objectives
The consultancy aims to:
- Increase audience understanding of ClientEarth's three thematic priorities.
- Grow engagement and reach among existing and new audiences around the three themes.
- Deliver content that connects ClientEarth's issues with mainstream conversations, trends and cultural moments.
- Test innovative storytelling approaches and content formats to improve performance across social media channels.
- Support the growth of ClientEarth's digital community and strengthen engagement with supporters.
Scope of work
Working closely with the Digital Communications team and thematic experts, the consultant will:
- Develop and produce platform-native content, primarily for Instagram Reels and related social media formats.
- Create a mix of evergreen and reactive content aligned with ClientEarth's thematic priorities.
- Identify opportunities to engage with relevant news stories, trends and cultural moments.
- Develop content across a range of formats.
Collaboration and Audience Growth - Identify opportunities for collaboration with content creators, influencers and aligned organisations.
- Recommend tactical approaches to reach new audiences and increase credibility within relevant communities.
- Test different creative approaches, formats and messages to optimise engagement and reach around the three themes.
Deliverables and timeline
Contract duration: Three months (anticipated Q4 2026)
The consultant will be expected to deliver an agreed weekly content package.
Final deliverable volumes will be agreed during contract inception and reflected in the workplan.
The consultant will participate in regular planning and review meetings with the Digital Communications team throughout the contract period.
Qualifications and skills
Essential
- Demonstrable experience creating high-performing content for social media platforms.
- Strong portfolio showcasing short-form video and social storytelling.
- Experience acting, shooting and editing.
- Excellent understanding of social media trends, internet culture and audience engagement.
- Ability to translate complex topics into clear, engaging and accessible content.
- Strong creative thinking and storytelling skills.
- Ability to work independently and deliver content to agreed deadlines.
Desirable
- Experience working with NGOs, advocacy organisations, media organisations or purpose-led brands.
- Knowledge of environmental, climate, human rights or social justice issues.
- Experience with TikTok and creator-led content strategies.
- Experience managing influencer or creator partnerships.
- Familiarity with legal, public affairs or policy communications.
Remuneration
The available budget range for this consultancy is £12-15k (or equivalent in Euros) for the three-month contract.
Proposals should include a budget breakdown outlining consultant fees and any anticipated project-related costs.
