NBC Sports is looking for a researcher with a focus on supporting our coverage of the Premier League. The position will require sound editorial judgment, quick decision making, and the ability to interact with on-air talent and production staff in the lead-up to and during live studio and match coverage. This role is for passionate Premier League soccer fans with exceptional writing skills and attention to detail who want to play a key role in our storytelling. Candidates should also be flexible and prepared to support and contribute to research projects across NBC Sports properties, as assigned.
Responsibilities include:
· Develop, compile and circulate information – such as press clippings, player bios and match previews – on all matters related to the Premier League, including the clubs, players, managers, rules and league-wide storylines
· Maintain the accuracy and integrity of on-air content
· Be a constructive teammate by working closely with other members of the production and research teams to develop storylines, pitch ideas, write scripts, and QC graphics and other content
· Prepare on-air talent prior to shows, and provide accurate, on-the-spot information during broadcasts in various capacities, including in studios, control rooms and on remote assignments
· Contribute to production and editorial meetings, and respond to specific research requests from departments across NBC Sports
· Become an expert on the stories, athletes, rules, results and histories of the Premier League and its clubs
Qualifications
· Minimum one (1) year of experience in sports journalism or related field or equivalent work experience
· Knowledge of and passion for Premier League soccer
· Excellent writing skills with proven journalistic writing ability (submission of writing samples required)
· Demonstrated editorial judgment and commitment to accuracy
· Ability to work efficiently and effectively under pressure and meet deadlines
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Desired Characteristics:
· Previous demonstrated excellence working on a national or regional sports television production or equivalent experience is strongly preferred
· Candidates should be versatile, self-motivated, energetic and able to work well both independently and as part of a group
