Guessing Headlights is currently looking for freelance news writers capable of producing 5–6 fast-turnaround, short-form trending news articles per day.
We are seeking writers who can confidently cover topics including law enforcement, traffic incidents, government-related stories, viral internet moments, and trending news with speed, accuracy, and strong editorial judgment.
While applicants do not need to come from a traditional automotive journalism background, familiarity with cars, automotive culture, and basic automotive terminology is strongly preferred.
Ideal candidates will:
• Have a strong understanding of what makes digital content engaging and shareable
• Be able to explain complex, unusual, or technical situations in a clear and highly skimmable format
• Demonstrate excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• Understand common reader questions, confusion points, and criticism trends, and proactively address them within their writing
• Be comfortable working in a fast-paced digital publishing environment
Preference will be given to candidates located on the U.S. East Coast or those available during East Coast business hours.
This is a freelance remote position. Applicants must reside in a country capable of receiving payments through PayPal or Wise.
Compensation starts at $25 per hour, with additional performance and traffic-based bonuses available.
