🚨Freelance Role Alert🚨
We are scaling up content production at Growth Plays and are on the lookout for editors who can take very good rough drafts and elevate them to truly great, differentiated, engaging content that passes the BS detectors of technical subject matter experts and resonates with sophisticated B2B buyers in the mid-market and enterprise.
This work is ideal for writers and editors who have both product marketing and content marketing experience, and who are experienced in working with AI-generated content. We aren't looking for proofreaders; we're looking for folks with deep industry knowledge, sharp editorial instincts, and the AI savviness to know when a draft is technically off, logically shaky, or positioned wrong and exactly how to fix it.

The Basics
- Growth Plays is looking for freelance content editors to help us edit, refine, and improve the content we produce for some of the biggest names in B2B SaaS, AI, infrastructure, and developer tools.
- This role is ideal for writers and editors who have both product marketing and demand gen experience, and who are fluent in working with AI-generated content. We aren't looking for proofreaders; we're looking for content marketers with deep industry expertise who can ensure a piece of content is technically credible, aligned with a brand's positioning, resonates with sophisticated B2B buyers, and generates leads.
- Location: Remote (folks working in North & South America, UK, Western Europe, and West African time zones strongly preferred)
- Role Type: Freelance
- Compensation: $100 per deliverable (typically a 1,500–2,000-word blog post or content brief)
- Ideal Background: 4+ years in Content Marketing, Editorial, and/or Product Marketing in B2B tech with hands-on experience working with AI writing tools
The Role
As a Freelance Editor, you are the final checkpoint before content reaches our clients. You combine impeccable editorial standards with a strategic marketing lens and the AI savviness to know exactly what to do when a draft is technically off, logically shaky, or weakly positioned.
Your work will focus on two main areas: Content Briefs (ensuring the "skeleton" and logic are strong) and Full Drafts (ensuring the final narrative is authoritative).
- Refine for Strategic Fit: Review briefs and drafts to ensure they solve for the reader's intent while aligning with the client's GTM goals and product positioning.
- Translate Complexity: Distill technical B2B SaaS concepts (e.g., multi-agent systems, serverless infrastructure, unified APIs) into clear, differentiated prose that reflects genuine industry expertise.
- Technical & Logical QA: Fact-check product claims and stress-test the logic of the content's argument to ensure it holds up under the scrutiny of a sophisticated buyer with years of experience in the space.
- Provide High-Signal Feedback: Deliver clear, actionable notes, feedback, and recommended changes on AI-generated outputs that improve narrative flow, authority, and future draft quality.
- Uphold the Quality Bar: Ensure every deliverable is error-free, easy to understand, and requires minimal internal cleanup before it can be published.
Your Background & Skill Set
- B2B SaaS Fluency: You understand the nuances of the SaaS world: the personas, the buying cycles, and the pain points.
- Product Marketing Instincts: You have a BS detector for generic marketing fluff. You know how to make a product's value proposition feel organic to the content.
- AI Fluency: You work with AI tools, not around them. You know how to identify what AI gets wrong and how to turn your edits into feedback that improves future outputs.
- Detail-Oriented & Autonomous: You are comfortable working with set deadlines and clear documentation. You can pick up a draft and run with it.
- Technical Curiosity: You aren't intimidated by complex products; you enjoy figuring out how they work and why they matter to users.
What Success Looks Like
- Precision: You consistently return briefs and drafts that are strategically aligned and technically sound.
- Consistency: You meet your weekly deliverable quotas and deadlines with high-quality work.
- Clarity: Stakeholders understand your feedback immediately, leading to faster revisions and better future drafts.
