Freelance Copy Editor

The Everygirl Media Group is looking for a detail-oriented and experienced copy editor to assist our Everygirl and Everymom editorial staff in finalizing content for publication. The copy editor’s primary responsibilities include reviewing and revising content for accuracy and quality, including spelling, grammar, punctuation, and syntax. The desired candidate will have a strong comprehension of AP Style and the ability to follow The Everygirl Media Group Style Guide. 

This is a fully remote freelance position with flexible work hours (10-15 hours per week), with the possibility of more hours during busy periods. It is preferred (but not required) that candidates are able to work Monday through Friday with some assignments completed during our full-time staff’s core hours of 9:30am – 3:30pm CST. However, assignments may be completed outside of that timeframe within the day they are due.  

Qualifications

• Past experience as a copy editor or similar role (college students studying journalism with limited work experience are encouraged to apply). 
• Strong comprehension of AP Style and grammar and the ability to follow The Everygirl Media Group Style Guide. 
• High attention to detail, strong communication and time-management skills, and the ability to carefully follow directions. 
• Past experience with WordPress is desired, but not required.  
• Proficiency in Google Workspace.

Compensation

The compensation rate is $23 per hour and is based on experience. Please note that this is a freelance position, and company benefits are not included. Freelancers are responsible for their own taxes.
