B2C Content Writing

Beat the Budget is a growing food platform focused on healthy, budget-friendly recipes. We’re on the lookout for a freelance blog writer to join the team and help bring our content to life- making it more helpful, search-friendly and of course, delicious.

A successful freelance writer will work independently, know when to ask questions and when to figure it out, and thrive writing about cooking, baking, and food-related topics.

This role is ideal for a writer who can help grow the blog, optimise existing content, and bring recipe posts to life in a tone that’s friendly, helpful, and keyword-rich.

If you’re a writer who loves food and wants to grow your career in content, SEO, and digital media – this could be the right fit for you!

✍️ What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Write new blog posts: Using Mimi’s recipes, keyword insights, and SEO briefs to create engaging, search-optimised content. You will not be writing or developing recipes.
  • Update existing blog posts: Refreshing copy, keywords, internal links, meta descriptions and formatting.
  • Upload content in WordPress, including adding provided images and writing alt text.
  • This role involves a set number of blog deliverables each month, with an estimated workload of around 50 hours to complete. You’ll work on a freelance basis, manage your own schedule, and invoice at your agreed rate (around £20/hour)

📚 Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in English, journalism, media, or equivalent experience
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills, and knowledgeable about how to structure content for the web
  • An understanding of SEO and eager to learn more about SEO, content strategy, and blog workflows is a big plus!
  • Others describe you as self-motivated, organised, and up for feedback and collaboration
  • Familiar with WordPress, Trello, Ahrefs, or similar tools
  • You love food and enjoy cooking (you won’t be developing recipes but you will be writing about them) so a love for cooking is a must!
  • Interest in content marketing, food media, and digital publishing
  • Have capacity for approximately 50 hours and your rate is around £20 per hour.
  • Available during UK business hours for communications

With 628K+ followers across social platforms and blog traffic growing over 7x in the past three years, the site is growing rapidly – now is the perfect time to get involved!
