Creative Non-Fiction Writer

The Atavist is looking for great stories you wrote and published years ago, for their new series.

Automattic's longform creative nonfiction magazine The Atavist launched a new series to kick of a new year: REVIVED.

Beyond the little mission statement for REVIVED on The Atavist's site, editor Seyward Darby said this in the latest episode of Brendan O'Meara's Creative Nonfiction Podcast:

"There was just some piece of me that thought: Look, 2025 is a dumpster fire. Media has been in a precarious position for as long as I've been in the industry — so, you know, going on two plus decades now — and so much of what has been precarious in that time is the risk of loss, right? The risk of losing outlets, the risk of losing your work, the risk of losing your job..." What if The Atavist could do its small part to rescue Atavist-y stories that have been lost to time as media outlets fold up and the Internet decomposes? Queue REVIVED.

A piece I wrote in 2018 for a too-short-lived magazine called TOPIC (a project by First Look Media) was tapped to be the first REVIVED piece published 🍾🍾🍾
