Direct medical writing experience required: 1 to 3 years

Position overview

We are seeking an experienced Contract Medical Writer to join our team on a project-based engagement. In this role, you will develop high-quality scientific publications for our pharmaceutical and biotech clients, with a focus on journal articles covering oncology, targeted therapy, biologics, osteoporosis, haematology, inflammatory conditions (including psoriasis and rheumatological disorders), and mental health.

Responsibilities

  • Draft and revise peer-reviewed journal manuscripts for pharmaceutical and biotech clients across multiple therapeutic areas
  • Conduct quality assurance and technical editing of medical writing deliverables, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and compliance with target journal requirements
  • Collaborate with clients, internal subject matter experts, and project leads to understand scope, timelines, and deliverable specifications
  • Manage project timelines and ensure all deliverables meet quality standards and client expectations
  • Maintain knowledge of current regulatory guidelines and best practices in scientific publication and medical writing
  • Develop familiarity with therapeutic areas (oncology, targeted therapy, biologics, osteoporosis, hematology, inflammation, mental health) and adapt writing style to target audiences and publication venues

Required qualifications

  • 1–3 years of medical writing experience, with demonstrated expertise in peer-reviewed journal article development
  • Bachelor's degree (B.S., B.A., or equivalent) in a life science, health science, or related field
  • Strong command of scientific writing, including structure, tone, and clarity for diverse audiences
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills; ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently

Preferred qualifications

  • Advanced degree (M.Sc., Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent) in a life science, pharmaceutical science, or health-related field
  • Certification in medical writing (e.g., EMWA, AMWA, or equivalent)
  • Published peer-reviewed journal articles as an author or co-author
  • Experience with any of the following therapeutic areas: oncology, targeted therapy, monoclonal antibodies or other biologics, osteoporosis, haematology, inflammatory conditions, or mental health
  • Familiarity with quality assurance and editorial review processes
  • Contract or agency-based medical writing experience
