Content Specialist
PivotreeI'm hiring! I'm looking for a content specialist to join our marketing team at Pivotree.
I suspect this will be a hard hire, not because the right person isn't out there, but because it's going to be difficult to pick them out of the applicant pile.
The usual advice is to apply to a job even if you don't tick every box. That is still true for the job description we're publishing in the next few days. It does not hold true for my rogue unauthorized version below (sorry HR). If you don't hit every one of these, please don't apply.
I need someone who:
- Is absolutely allergic to AI slop. LOOK. We use AI here, a lot. We've been using it here and there for writing, because we're a lean team and things have to get out the door. We're going to stop doing that and you'll be the one enforcing it. If I see one more "quietly" or "on a Tuesday" or "worth naming" I'm yeeting my entire WFH setup into the Atlantic Ocean. I mean it.
- Can write long-form that isn't terminally boring, even when the subject matter is incredibly technical.
- Can run social properly, including both brand profiles and exec accounts. I'm not good at this, never have been, likely never will be, and I think it's one of the most important things we should be doing. That's why I need you.
- Can take a podcast, a video, or an interview and turn it into something else entirely. I don't just mean 1 podcast = 2 blog posts, 3 carousels, and 10 LinkedIn posts. I mean identifying a trend across five episodes, two webinars, and one offhand comment from our CTO, and building something new out of it.
- Can hold their own with a subject matter expert in an interview. We have a lot of smart people here who don't have time to write and/or aren't writers (they're not supposed to be). Your job is getting what's in their heads onto a page, so you can't be shy about asking questions.
- Is willing to experiment with different tools and content formats. We are not delusional, i.e. we are not looking for someone who writes content AND does graphic design AND edits video. Those are three different jobs. But, we are looking for someone who is willing to take a stab at producing different content formats — you'll have the right tools for the job + support from our external design partner.
You'll be an individual contributor reporting directly to me and working alongside our ABM manager. Fully remote, $80k CAD + benefits + unlimited PTO + room to grow.
(On location: we are HQ'ed in Canada so the salary is in CAD, but we are not limiting the talent pool to Canada.)
If you're still nodding along, let's talk 😃
