We're looking for a systems-thinking creative leader who gets genuinely excited about transforming how video + audio content moves from idea to global impact. This isn't about producing content yourselfâbut building the production machine that multiplies content across multiple channels, multiple markets, and millions of entrepreneurs worldwide.
Our small and mighty team of crafters has scaled production output 50% YoY and we're at an inflection point as we look to continue our scale in the next chapter of global and multichannel growth.
We need someone who can take the vision, centralize the ecosystem and refine the systems, workflows and AI-powered process that turn every piece of content into a multiplier, not just an output.
The Multimedia team is Shopify's content powerhouse, creating the educational and inspirational content that guides millions of entrepreneurs through their journey. We own Learn with Shopify (our YouTube edutainment channel reaching millions), Shopify Masters (our flagship video podcast), and the content engine that feeds Shopify's SEO and global growth.

Be the Orchestrator: You're the backbone that transforms our team lead's vision into an executable, repeatable content machine. You'll own the entire content pipelineâfrom creative briefs and content formats to final distributionâensuring every asset flows seamlessly across our ecosystem.
Build the Machine: Design and implement AI-powered workflows and scalable systems that turn our content production from linear to exponential. Identify bottlenecks, build solutions, and create the playbooks that let us produce more while maintaining creative excellence.
Guard the Standard: You're the arbiter of quality. Every piece of content that ships has your fingerprint on itâyouâre the point of accountability for quality, ensuring all creative output is grounded in our strategy and meets our standards for creative excellence.
Unlock Global Scale: Own the execution of our international/localization pipeline, scaling our content for new markets by constructing a repeatable process with cross-functional partners.
Drive the Creative Flywheel: Partner with SEO, editorial, paid, and organic teams to ensure we're creating the right content for the right channel at the right time. Youâll also partner with our strategist on insights that allow us to optimize the output, ensuring we're nimble in crafting content that drives continuous value.
Enable the Team: You won't manage people directly, but you'll be the leader who makes our producers' lives easier, multiplies their impact, and models what great looks like at Shopify.
You've Mastered YouTube: This isn't negotiable. You deeply understand YouTube's ecosystemâfrom algorithm optimization to audience retention, from thumbnail strategy to series programming. You've produced content specifically for YouTube at scale and can speak fluently about what makes content win on the platform.
You Think in Systems: You see content production not as individual projects but as interconnected systems. You've built workflows that scale, implemented processes that stick, and have strong opinions about how to multiply creative output without sacrificing quality.
AI is Your Reflex: You don't just use AIâyou think AI-first. You've already implemented AI into production workflows, whether for scripting, editing, distribution, or localization. You're always curious about what is new and possible, while being pragmatic about what works today.
You've Evolved Beyond Production: You started in the trenches but have leveled up to thinking strategically about content. You understand the craft but now you orchestrate.
Startup Energy, Enterprise Scale: You thrive in ambiguity and move fast. You know how to be scrappy while building for scale.
LA/West Coast Preferred: This role will be centered on working near our LA production hub
This role is challenging. You'll be building the plane while flying it. You'll need to move fast while maintaining quality. Note: Just to make it clear, this is not a hands-on content production role. We have talented producers who create the content. We need you to own the systems and creative guidelines that multiply their impact.
