About Pathways to Services Development
Pathways to Services Development is a California based nonprofit organization currently in an intentional build phase focused on developing structured solutions around recovery support, reentry, housing stability, trauma informed care, and lived experience leadership.
Our work is centered on addressing the transition gap people face after deciding to change their lives. We are building systems rooted in accountability, structure, continuity, and long term transformation.
Position Overview
Pathways is seeking a Volunteer Grant Writer Advisor to support the organization’s early funding and grant readiness strategy. This role is ideal for someone who believes in helping build strong nonprofit infrastructure before expansion and understands the importance of responsible growth.
The advisor will work closely with leadership to strengthen funding positioning, identify opportunities, and help prepare the organization for long term sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
• Research grant and funding opportunities aligned with Pathways’ mission
• Advise on grant readiness and funding strategy
• Support development of grant narratives and organizational language
• Review funding requirements and compliance expectations
• Help strengthen internal funding infrastructure and documentation
• Provide strategic insight around nonprofit growth and sustainability
Preferred Experience
• Nonprofit grant writing or grant advisory experience
• Knowledge of housing, behavioral health, reentry, or community based services
• Familiarity with foundation funding, government grants, or CalAIM related opportunities
• Experience helping organizations position themselves for funding readiness
• Strong writing and organizational skills
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone who understands that real community impact requires more than vision alone. It requires operational discipline, funding strategy, credibility, and patience during the build process.
This is an opportunity to help shape a mission driven organization from the ground up while contributing to long term systems change in the communities we serve.
IMPORTANT: This is not a paid consultant position. We are currently seeking volunteer build phase support from individuals who believe in helping build sustainable nonprofit infrastructure during the organization’s early development stage.
