We are seeking a Technical Writer with an IT background and a strong understanding of technical processes to support our documentation needs. This individual will be responsible for writing and maintaining clear, concise, and structured documentation of technical workflows, IT procedures, and operational processes. The ideal candidate will be process-oriented, experienced in technical writing, and must hold an active Secret Clearance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Document complex technical processes and procedures related to IT operations and systems.
- Create and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, technical manuals, and user guides.
- Collaborate closely with IT professionals, engineers, and SMEs to gather accurate and up-to-date information.
- Translate technical jargon into clear, accessible content for both technical and non-technical users.
- Ensure documentation follows established standards and is structured for usability and consistency.
- Continuously review and update existing documentation in alignment with process changes.
- Apply ITIL framework principles to align documentation with service management best practices.
- Maintain version control and document repositories to ensure traceability and accessibility.
Required Qualifications:
- Active Secret Clearance
- ITIL Foundations Certification
- 3+ years of professional technical writing experience
- Demonstrated experience documenting IT processes, systems, or workflows
- Strong process orientation and ability to define and articulate procedures clearly
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with technical teams
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior hands-on IT experience or background in IT support, administration, or infrastructure
- Familiarity with technical environments including networking, cybersecurity, or systems management
- Experience supporting documentation in government or DoD environments
Salary range: $60K-$70K, depending on experience
