B2B Content Writing, Technical Writing

Copytree is hiring writers for some really interesting work coming up (part-time/on contract). 99% of our team has come from referrals/word of mouth

We write a lot of engineering blogs & technical GTM content so are looking for either:

  1. Someone with an engineering or product management background + CS degree, who may or may not have written professionally, but has a passion for writing and educating (maybe keeps a personal blog, has been told they're a great writer, etc.)
  2. Someone with a content/GTM background in tech who has done a lot of writing for developer audiences. So even though they may not have studied CS, they've absorbed enough technical knowledge and intuition that they are very comfortable having conversations with engineers and translating that into content

It's hard to find these people! If you know anyone who fits the above that is looking for part-time work, please send me a DM -- hugely appreciated!! More info is at our job description [click apply].

Copytree seeks strong, engaging writers with a hands-on technical background to develop content for clients in domains including AI, devtools, data, and security.

Our ideal candidate is either:

  • Someone with an engineering or product management background + CS degree, who may or may not have written professionally, but has a passion for writing and educating (maybe keeps a personal blog, was the go-to person for writing their team's communications, has been told they're a great writer, etc.)
  • Someone with a content/GTM background in tech who has done a lot of writing for developer audiences, so even though they may not have formal CS training, they have absorbed enough technical knowledge and intuition that they are very comfortable having conversations with engineers & PMs and translating that into content

Working with Copytree

  • Fully remote & mostly async with occasional client meetings
  • You'll be staffed on a client team & communicate with the client directly via Slack
  • Typically 1–2 week lead time for a piece; sometimes faster timelines or deeper projects
  • Peer editing & feedback from other technical writers on your team
  • Human writing only: No AI allowed for drafting or outlining, only for research & minimal editing use cases

Compensation

  • Paid monthly for hours worked in previous month. We'll determine a rate based on your experience & interview performance, in the range of $90–$125/hour
  • Non-writing time (meetings, research, etc.) is also paid (seems to go without saying, but apparently not standard at all agencies)
  • 5–10 hours a week minimum availability required, more is great
