About Sentient:
Sentient is the only nonprofit, nonpartisan news organization solely focused on factory farms and their effects on climate, animals, workers, clean water, public health and rural communities.
Founded in 2018, Sentient’s content is fact-checked and science-driven, with reporting that serves readers—especially those in frontline rural communities—interested in the impacts of what they eat on animals, climate, water and their local economy.
Position Overview:
Sentient Media is seeking a Student Editorial Fellow with a strong interest in the intersection of food and climate science to join our Editorial team. This fellowship begins in September 2026 and runs for 3 months.
Our editorial fellow is an integral part of our newsroom, working alongside our reporters to uncover impactful stories illuminating the underreported contribution of animal agriculture to the climate crisis. With the mentorship and support of Sentient’s editorial staff, the Student Editorial fellow will draft and file reported stories that further Sentient’s mission, provide fact-checking for articles, attend and participate in editorial meetings and contribute to Sentient’s weekly newsletter.
The pay for this position is $20/hour, for 20 hours per week of work. Sentient’s team is remote, most of whom work on U.S. Eastern time hours. The Student Editorial Fellow will set their hours with the Editor-in-Chief, and generally be reachable during those hours.
