Know a short-form copywriter who's good (like, VERY good) and looking for something part-time and remote?
Bonsai Digital is hiring a short-form copywriter on a 3-month fixed-term contract (end of April through end of July 2026) to cover a maternity leave, with the possibility of it becoming something longer.
We’re a small, intentional content marketing agency that genuinely cares about the quality of what we put into the world. Our whole philosophy is anti-content-spam — we're about storytelling that has impact, not flooding the internet with more clutter. If that ethos matters to you (and it should), this is worth a look.
What you’ll do:
- Write across formats: social media, websites, email, and brand messaging
- Shape content from early ideas through to a finished draft
- Move between multiple projects at once, keeping work organised and on track
- Manage your own workload and deadlines without close supervision
Our ideal candidate has:
- A strong internal bar for quality and accountability
- 3+ years in an agency environment or a solid background in freelance writing
- Proven capability in writing for social, web, and email
- Some exposure to brand messaging and content strategy
The details:
- Part-time: 50 hours/month
- Fully remote
- Work can be flexible within the day, but must occur between 8am–6pm. This role is not suited to someone with a full-time job.
One important thing: only applications submitted through our TestGorilla assessment will be considered. No DMs, no cold-emailing CVs. We’re using the assessment to keep things fair and reduce bias in hiring. Don't let the estimated time on the assessment put you off; most people finish well before the limit.
If this sounds like your kind of gig — or you know someone it'd be perfect for — go apply. Tag them below. Share this post. You know the drill.
Full job description and link to the assessment is in the comments. And in case you needed extra motivation to apply, check what Jomiro Eming has to say about us 😉

We’re looking for a short-form copywriter on a 3-month fixed term contract between the end of April and the end of July 2026 to cover a team member’s maternity leave, with potential to expand into a longer-term relationship.
Our ideal candidate brings a high personal standard for quality, thrives with independence, and is comfortable shaping work from a loose brief into a strong final product. This role suits someone who enjoys variety, ownership, and close collaboration with a small team.
You will be integral in upholding the overall quality of work produced at Bonsai.
We want to ensure that all applicants have a fair and equal chance, so we’re using a TestGorilla skills assessment. This minimises unconscious bias in our hiring process and helps us understand your soft skills and overall fit for the role. Successful candidates will be invited to a job interview.
Please note: The time shown on the TestGorilla assessment reflects the maximum possible duration if you use the full limit for every question. Most candidates finish well before that, so don’t let the estimated time put you off. You will also have the opportunity to submit your CV or portfolio during the assessment.

If your assessment and CV/portfolio align well with what we’re looking for, we’ll invite you to an initial conversation. This call focuses on who you are, how you work, and whether the role and culture at Bonsai feel like a good fit on both sides.
Next, we’ll go deeper into your craft. We’ll discuss your approach to shaping content from loose ideas, your writing experience, and how you think about strategy, structure, tone, and quality.
You’ll then complete a paid trial task that reflects the type of work you’d do at Bonsai.
We’ll finish with a short call or email to share the outcome. If you’re the right fit, we’ll walk you through the next steps. If not, we’ll offer constructive feedback to support your growth moving forward.
Please contact Emma at [click apply] if you have any questions regarding your application.
