We’re looking for a contract SEO & AI Content Strategist who balances creative vision with analytical depth. Someone who backs ideas with data and turns insights into measurable results.

You’ll help shape how Semrush shows up across traditional search and emerging AI-driven discovery platforms, leading the way as brands learn to earn visibility and trust in the new search landscape.

This role sits at the intersection of content strategy, SEO, and AI visibility. You’ll use data to guide decisions, design experiments, and build frameworks that strengthen Semrush’s presence across Google, ChatGPT, Perplexity, and beyond.

What You’ll Do

Build and evolve content strategy:

• Ensure content across semrush.com is consistent, high-quality, and optimized for LLMs and organic search.
• Safeguard how the Semrush brand is represented externally to ensure it’s referenced accurately and consistently.
• Identify new opportunities to drive measurable growth in both organic and AI-driven search visibility.
• Stay ahead of industry shifts. Not only to adapt, but to help Semrush define the standards others will follow.

Bridge SEO and AI search

• Analyze how Semrush content performs in both traditional search and AI-powered experiences (ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity).
• Translate findings into actionable experiments and frameworks.
• Develop repeatable processes for improving how Semrush is mentioned and cited in AI-generated answers.

Connect data and decision-making

• Use data to link content performance with business KPIs, demonstrating measurable results and refining strategy accordingly.
• Use tools like Semrush, Google Search Console, and other analytics platforms to track progress and identify trends.
• Build reports or dashboards that make visibility data actionable.

Create high-impact briefs and experiments

• Research and develop structured, data-informed content briefs that guide creators to produce high-quality, discoverable, and original content.
• Align briefs with audience insights and ICPs to ensure each piece speaks to real user needs and pain points.
• Design and run content experiments to test new tactics and improve visibility in AI-generated results.

Optimize and scale performance

• Audit and enhance existing content for freshness, authority, and AI retrievability.
• Develop frameworks for improving how Semrush is cited or mentioned in AI answers.
• Continuously refine content processes to make production more efficient while maintaining quality.

Collaborate across teams

• Partner with SEO, product, editorial, and data teams to balance creative, technical, and strategic goals.
• Contribute ideas that strengthen Semrush’s leadership in AI and content strategy.

Who we are looking for

• 5+ years in SEO and content strategy, ideally in SaaS or B2B.
• Proven ability to use data to drive content decisions and measure business impact.
• Strong understanding of both traditional search and AI-driven discovery.
• Skilled at translating complex insights into structured, actionable briefs.
• Detail-oriented and organized, with high standards for accuracy and originality.
• Curious about the future of AI search and motivated by change and experimentation.
• Experience with AI tools, prompt workflows, or new content formats is a plus.
