EXECUTIVE CREATIVE DIRECTOR (YOUTUBE)

Remote anywhere in the world

$150K-$215K

Manage the creative and the team behind it.

You are in the work across scripts, thumbnails, packaging, edits, client service.

Set the standard, develop Creative Directors, ensure clients are taken care of, and make sure quality holds across everything going out.

What this role is

Dragonfruit is looking for an Executive Creative Director to raise the creative standard across the business. This is a hands-on creative leadership role for someone deeply fluent in how YouTube works, why content succeeds, and how to scale strong creative instincts across teams. The Executive Creative Director will oversee Creative Directors and Scriptwriters, ensuring content is strategically sharp, creatively differentiated, and positioned to perform. This role is highly involved in the work itself. You will work directly inside the creative process, helping shape ideas, packaging, scripts, storytelling, retention strategy, video structure, and overall creative execution across client deliverables. The right person can quickly identify what is missing, communicate it clearly, and elevate the quality of work across the board. The Executive Creative Director should bring strong creative judgment, deep YouTube fluency, and the ability to coach and develop teams at a high level while operating in a fast-paced environment.

This position can be remote anywhere in the world. The salary range for this role is $150,000 to $215,000 and reports into company leadership. We are motivated to make this hire and look forward to connecting with aligned candidates.

What you’ll do

  • Raise the quality bar across all client deliverables, ensuring ideas, packaging, scripts, storytelling, and creative execution are consistently strong and strategically sound
  • Coach, mentor, and upskill Creative Directors and Scriptwriters, helping strengthen creative judgment, YouTube fluency, storytelling instincts, and overall quality of output across the team
  • Build stronger creative systems and frameworks around YouTube strategy, retention, packaging, audience behavior, and performance-driven storytelling
  • Review and elevate work across thumbnails, titles, retention strategy, scripting, video structure, and overall creative execution
  • Quickly identify why content is or is not working and communicate actionable feedback with clarity and precision
  • Establish and reinforce creative standards across the company to create stronger consistency across clients and teams
  • Partner cross-functionally with leadership and creative teams to strengthen channel growth, strategic direction, and creative execution
  • Step into high-priority client situations and help navigate complex creative or strategic challenges when needed
  • Build strong relationships with clients and confidently communicate creative strategy, feedback, performance insights, and recommendations across a variety of brands, personalities, and content formats

What you’ll bring

  • Deep understanding of YouTube strategy, storytelling, packaging, retention, and channel growth
  • Strong understanding of how YouTube strategy differs across formats, audiences, and niches, with the ability to adapt creative thinking instead of relying on one repeatable formula
  • Ability to quickly and clearly articulate why content succeeds or fails, both creatively and strategically
  • Strong instincts around titles, thumbnails, pacing, structure, and audience retention
  • Experience developing and leveling up creative talent and giving direct, actionable feedback
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to operate with clarity in fast-moving environments
  • High creative standards and strong taste across content, storytelling, and brand positioning
  • Ability to balance creative ambition with performance-driven thinking and data-informed decision making

Skills and Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience as a Content Strategist β€” in YouTube, digital media, or content as a Creative Director, Executive Creative Director, Content Strategist, Lead Creative, or equivalent
  • Proven track record of creating high-performing content and scaling creative across multiple channels or clients
  • Strong understanding of packaging, including thumbnails, titles, CTR, retention, and audience behavior
  • Strong understanding of storytelling and video structure, with the ability to identify what strengthens or weakens viewer engagement
  • Experience overseeing multiple creative pipelines simultaneously
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to give clear, direct, actionable feedback
  • Strong client communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to navigate feedback, creative alignment, and high-stakes conversations with clarity and confidence
  • Strong understanding of YouTube analytics, content performance, and channel strategy
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-performance environment
  • Player-coach mentality with a desire to stay close to the work itself

DIRECTOR OF PRODUCTION (YOUTUBE)

Remote anywhere in the world

$130K-$175K

Run the system behind the work.

Work closely overseeing producers across pods to keep timelines, delivery, and output on track.

Make sure everything runs cleanly, on time, and at the level expected.

What this role is

Dragonfruit is growing quickly, and this role ensures production scales with it.

The Director of Production owns the health of production across the business. You are responsible for making sure work is delivered on time, at a high level, and without breakdowns across teams. You bring structure to how production is managed today while also building visibility into what’s coming next. This role sits above the pods, supporting and strengthening Producers, improving systems, and stepping in to solve problems when needed. It requires someone who can operate at both a high level and in the details. You’ll also partner behind the scenes on client strategy and problem-solving, serving as a mentor, advisor, and steady support for Producers.

This position can be remote anywhere in the world, with a preference for Los Angeles or New York. The salary range for this role is $130,000 to $175,000 and it reports into the Head of Innovation. We are motivated to make this hire and look forward to connecting with aligned candidates.

What you’ll do

  • Ensure production runs smoothly across all pods, with deliverables completed on time and at a high level, with no execution gaps
  • Forecast production needs and provide clear visibility into capacity, risks, and upcoming work as the business scales
  • Own production planning for client onboarding and ongoing account management
  • Use strong judgment to step in, support, or escalate issues at the right time, including escalating to leadership based on early warning signs
  • Monitor for risks, blockers, and signals that timelines or quality may slip
  • Coach and upskill Producers to strengthen communication, ownership, and execution across the team
  • Drive cross-functional alignment across production, creative, and leadership to ensure clarity on priorities, timelines, and expectations
  • Partner on client strategy and problem-solving as a mentor and steady support for Producers
  • Identify workflow gaps and continuously improve how production operates across teams

What you’ll bring

  • 6+ years experience leading production or operations in a fast-paced YouTube environment
  • Proven ability to lead teams and manage complex, multi-client workflows at scale
  • Strong project management and systems-thinking mindset; able to design and improve processes, not just operate within them
  • Demonstrated success in building and maintaining strong client relationships and delivering high levels of client satisfaction
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills; calm, structured, and decisive under pressure
  • Deep familiarity with production tools such as ClickUp, Notion, and Slack
  • Experience managing or overseeing YouTube production pipelines preferred
  • Ability to operate within US time zones
