About the Role: 

We recently completed a strategic editorial refocus of our blog, The Edge. Now, we’re looking for a detail-oriented Senior Health Editor to create engaging, medically accurate, SEO-optimized articles. The goal: deliver unique and compelling information to midlife audiences, rank well in organic search, and drive impactful results.

As Senior Health Editor, you’ll be at the forefront of crafting compelling, medically accurate content that empowers readers to take control of their health and longevity. Working alongside a collaborative team of editors and freelancers, you’ll ideate, assign, and edit high-quality content that builds trust, drives traffic, and supports Hone’s mission of helping men and women unlock their full potential.

About You:
You’re an experienced health editor with a discerning, research-driven approach and a passion for creating medically accurate, actionable content that empowers midlife audiences (men and women). You excel at blending creative storytelling with scientific integrity to craft shareable, high-value content that resonates with readers and establishes Hone Health as a leader in hormone health and longevity.

You have a proven track record of producing SEO-optimized articles that rank well while prioritizing the reader’s needs. A master at simplifying complex health topics, you build trust by delivering clear, evidence-based guidance. Your expertise spans ideation, story development, structural editing, and line editing, with a talent for crafting concise, engaging copy without sacrificing depth.

Proactive and adaptable, you thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. As a collaborative team player with a growth mindset, you take ownership of challenges and approach change with confidence and creativity.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Create, assign, and edit engaging content, including SEO explainers, customer transformation stories, and brand narratives, with a focus on hormone optimization and longevity.
• Ensure content aligns with Hone’s mission, voice, and business objectives, maintaining high standards for medical accuracy and reader engagement.
• Apply SEO best practices throughout the content creation process, from developing outlines to editing and optimizing internal linking.
• Mentor freelance health writers (you know some top-tier ones!) to ensure deadlines are met without sacrificing quality, accuracy, or thoroughness. 
• Incorporate feedback from editorial, SEO, and medical reviewers to ensure all content meets Hone’s editorial standards and strategic goals.
• Monitor and analyze content performance metrics to inform and refine future editorial strategies.
• Keep a pulse on the competitive landscape to identify trends and opportunities in for our coverage
• Write a weekly newsletter

Qualifications:

• 7+ years of experience producing SEO-driven, scientifically rigorous health content that supports business objectives, ideally for a consumer-focused health brand or publication with a strong SEO strategy
• Expertise in midlife health topics, including men’s hormone health, menopause, weight management, and longevity, with the ability to uncover fresh angles and deliver actionable insights
• Proficient in current SEO best practices and tools like Ahrefs, Google Search Console, and GA4, with a proven track record of producing high-ranking content that drives traffic and engagement
• An established network of freelance writers specializing in health and wellness content with scientific rigor
• Strong editorial judgment and meticulous attention to detail. Proven experience in story ideation, structural editing, and line editing, with the ability to elevate content to resonate with target audiences
• Track record of translating complex medical and scientific research into approachable, shareable narratives
• Data-driven mindset with the ability to analyze performance metrics and refine strategies accordingly
• Operating experience with CMS platforms, ideally WordPress
• Exceptional time management and organizational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Compensation range: $85,000—$100,000 USD
