Hello friends. I’m looking for someone exceptional in my network, and I’d appreciate your help.

I’m searching for a gifted non-fiction writer with a specific interest in psychology.

In an age of AI-generated content, we at ProWritingAid believe that original thinking and true craft matter more than ever. The world needs better words, not just more words.

This person will work directly with me on our mission to bring more life-changing books into the world by helping writers overcome the (many) mental challenges of writing.

This is a remote role (East US or European timezones only). Link to the full job post in the comments.

Please share with anyone who might be a great fit.

Job Title: Psychology Thought Leadership Writer

Location: Remote (European or East US Timezone)

Type: Part-time, contractor (flexible hours)

About ProWritingAid

ProWritingAid already serves an audience of over one million writers around the world. Now, we want to deepen that impact—not just by improving craft, but by helping writers gain a deeper understanding of their minds.

Writing is one of the hardest things a human can do.

It demands vulnerability, identity, cognitive strain, and emotional endurance. Most writers don’t quit because they lack talent. They quit because writing is psychologically taxing.

Chris Banks, CEO of ProWritingAid, is on a mission to change that and help bring more life-changing books into the world.

His upcoming book, The Writer’s Mind (Penguin early-2027), explores the psychology of writing—why it feels so difficult, how identity shapes creative output, and how writers can build the mental resilience to keep going.

We are looking for a Psychology Thought Leadership Writer to help scale that intellectual foundation and help millions of writers defeat the mental blocks that stop them writing and finishing.

About the Role

We are moving from traditional SaaS content toward a world-class editorial platform focused on writer identity, creative psychology, and the inner life of writers. Our ambition is to operate with the intellectual depth of a magazine and the reach of modern short-form media.

You will work directly with our CEO, Chris, as a strategic writing partner—helping shape, refine, and expand a body of work at the intersection of psychology, creativity, and identity.

Together, you will:

  • Turn original research into thoughtful, credible whitepapers
  • Develop long-form essays that advance the conversation around writing and mindset
  • Support article placements in major publications
  • Expand the intellectual architecture behind The Writer’s Mind
  • Build frameworks that help writers feel understood, capable, and resilient
  • Create ideas that live far beyond a single book

You will enter ideas early—while they are still forming—and help shape them into durable intellectual property.

You will challenge ideas, refine arguments, and co-create structured thinking. You must be comfortable operating at the level of concepts, not just copy.

What This Role Is Not

  • Not SEO blog writing
  • Not short-form social content
  • Not PR copy
  • Not content production at scale

This is deep idea development and intellectual craftsmanship.

Why This Role Is Special

Few roles offer the chance to:

  • Develop research into whitepapers read by a global writing community
  • Influence over 1 million writers
  • Contribute to work that may help thousands of books make it into the world

If you believe great books change lives, then helping writers persist through doubt, fear, perfectionism, and identity struggle is meaningful work.

You will be working on ideas that matter.

You’re a Great Fit If You Are:

  • A gifted nonfiction writer with substantial long-form work
  • Comfortable engaging seriously with psychology and cognitive science
  • Able to synthesize research into elegant, readable prose
  • Deeply curious about identity, creativity, and human behavior
  • Drawn to meaningful, mission-driven work
  • Confident enough to push back and refine ideas; strong opinions, loosely held
  • Accustomed to thinking in models and frameworks

Strong preference for candidates who have:

  • Written for major publications such as Psychology Today, The Atlantic, Aeon, Nautilus, or equivalent
  • Published long-form essays grounded in behavioral science
  • Experience translating research into accessible frameworks

Hours & Compensation

  • Contract, Part-time, 15-30 hours per week
  • Flexible scheduling
  • Compensation: Competitive and aligned with senior editorial or research advisory roles.
  • Flexible structure (project-based or retainer, depending on fit)
  • Depth and quality prioritized over output volume
