Company Description

It is a really exciting time to join the Reach family. Due to our sustained growth and our ambitious future growth plans, we are now looking for an experienced Overnight Editor to join us on a six month maternity cover contract, working across our regional titles which include Manchester Evening News, Liverpool Echo, My London, BirminghamLive and Wales Online.

The role of Overnight Editor requires an experienced content/news editor to lead an overnight team of content editors and reporters to ensure Reach’s regional news brands throughout the UK and Ireland are always β€˜live’. So no matter the time, we’ll have the coverage.

Please note we will be reviewing applications for this role as applications are submitted. Due to this the role may close without notice, so please don't delay in your application.

So, who are we?

Hello, we are Reach! You might not have heard of us but we have probably met without you even realising it. We are home to the UK and Ireland’s most iconic digital platforms, magazines and newspapers. From the Mirror, Daily Express and OK!, to our regional titles such as the Liverpool Echo, BirminghamLive and the Manchester Evening News (plus lots more), our brands and the stories we cover are as varied as our people.

We help all kinds of people share experiences through our stories because we believe this is what makes us human. Oh, and we should probably also mention that with a monthly readership of 47 million people, Reach is the largest commercial publisher in the UK. At Reach, not only will you feel better understood, you will also feel you understand other people better too.

We are happy to consider applications on a flexible working basis, and will always aim to accommodate requests where possible.

This role is home based and we are therefore open to candidates based across the UK.

You are an experienced journalist with an NCTJ or equivalent journalism qualification and in depth knowledge of media law. You have a strong track record of reporting and ideally editing, breaking news content in a fast paced or large regional newsroom environment.

This would be a great opportunity for a news editor or content editor looking for a new challenge or change in working hours. You have first rate editing, writing and subbing skills and relish the test of working under pressure and to tight deadlines.
