WHAT
A monthly email newsletter delivered to people who sign up at in-person events or online. Our vision is a fun, quick read full of thoughtful insights and relatable stories that validate our reader’s hopes, dreams, anxieties and realities about life and money.
HOW
You know that friend who always seems to know what’s going on, has the best stories and is quick to make a joke; but is also really on top of their sh**? That’s our voice. We want talent who are plugged into Calgary culture, not just downtown but across the sprawl, and familiar with our target audience.
We’re inspired by work like The Cut and Refinery29’s Money Diaries: unconventional looks at life, money, power and everything in between. Sometimes it’s a peek into Calgary life, sometimes it’s a confessional, sometimes it’s a street interview or online poll. The content is always unexpected, reliable and colourful, without a sales pitch.
WHEN & WHERE
This is a remote work opportunity. Regular virtual editorial meetings will be necessary but, for the most part, you’ll be free to pitch and write on your own. Deadlines will vary from a few days to over a month.
WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU?
Other than immersion into all the facets of our city’s culture, selected writers will receive regular guidance on what pitches we’re looking for. Our editorial team and style guide will help keep revisions to a minimum. Completed pieces are paid whether we publish or not.
