Guessing Headlights is looking for a freelance writer to cover breaking news, trending stories, and viral content on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys spotting stories early, working independently, and turning developing events into accurate, engaging articles.

What You’ll Do
• Monitor news sources, social media, and emerging trends throughout the weekend
• Identify stories with national interest and broad audience appeal
• Write and publish timely articles on breaking news, transportation, travel, public safety, and viral topics
• Verify information through reliable sources before publication
• Work closely with editors to ensure stories meet editorial standards

Requirements
• Strong news judgment and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and make sound editorial decisions
• Experience writing news, digital media, or online content
• Strong research and fact-checking skills
• Ability to write quickly without sacrificing accuracy
• Comfortable covering a wide variety of topics

Schedule
• Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays
• Must be available during East Coast morning hours
• All assigned stories should be published before 12:00 p.m. Eastern whenever possible

Location

Applicants must be located on the U.S. East Coast, in the United Kingdom, or otherwise able to reliably work East Coast morning hours.

Compensation
• $25 per hour
• Traffic bonuses available
• Fully remote
