News Digital is hiring a Breaking News Editor for Politics. It's a temporary, 6-month assignment that will begin in August. The role is hybrid 4 days a week in the office (DC, NYC, LA, or Miami) with remote consideration.

The breaking desk is the heart of the politics team on NBCNews.com. The reporters and editors cover and bring together the latest news around campaigns, Congress, the White House, state legislatures and more, pulling in reporting from across the news organization into a comprehensive report.

The person in this role will be comfortable assigning and editing stories on all aspects of politics coverage, know how to move a story forward and make it appeal to our audience. The person should be interested in live coverage of news events, including live blogging. They should be a master at SEO, headlines and ledes.

This job will require occasionally writing news when the situation calls for it.

Daily Rate: $358 – $358

EDIT: Forgot to include the hours! It’s 8-5 ET Monday-Friday, but like a lot of jobs with news there will be flexibility required during big news events and/or staffing gaps.
