AllenComm is seeking a seasoned Medical Writer to support content updates for a continuing education course on hypertension, developed in partnership with the American Heart Association (AHA). The course is being refreshed to reflect the latest clinical guidelines, science and research, and best practices in hypertension management. You’ll play a critical role in ensuring medical accuracy, evidence-based content, and alignment with AHA’s learning objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Review existing course content and suggested content changes based on new science in the area of Hypertension. Revise the content in the course based on the new science.
- Research and incorporate the latest guidelines, studies, and clinical practices related to hypertension as needed.
- Draft, revise, and finalize medical/clinical content in collaboration with instructional designers and SMEs.
- Translate complex clinical material into accessible, accurate, and engaging language appropriate for the target learner audience (healthcare professionals).
- Work within existing course structure and follow voice/tone guidelines consistent with AHA standards.
- Provide clinical citations and references as needed.
- Participate in content review cycles with the AllenComm team and AHA stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a medical writer, preferably with a focus on cardiovascular health or hypertension.
- Demonstrated ability to synthesize and communicate evidence-based medical information clearly and effectively.
- Background in health sciences, medicine, nursing, pharmacology, or a related field (MS, MPH, RN, PharmD, or MD preferred).
- Familiarity with clinical practice guidelines (e.g., ACC/AHA, JNC, USPSTF).
- Experience working on eLearning, CME, or continuing education content a strong plus.
- Excellent writing, editing, and referencing skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines.
Nice-to-Have
- Prior collaboration with nonprofit health organizations such as AHA.
- Understanding of adult learning principles and instructional design.
- Experience using content development tools (e.g., Word, Google Docs, Articulate Rise, etc.).
