£20,000 - £30,000 GBP yearly
B2B Content Writing, B2B Content Marketing

We’re hiring a Marketing Executive – remote, flexible and focused on delivering proper marketing work.

This is our first hire, supporting client delivery and helping shape how Edward & James grows. You’ll work on strategy-led campaigns for law, fintech, compliance and more.

The role is designed with flexibility in mind – and we’ll shape it around the right person to help you do your best work.

---

Edward & James is a marketing consultancy that helps professional services firms grow with strategy-led, creative execution. We work with clients in law, fintech, compliance, wealth management, accounting and beyond.

Until now the business has been a one-person consultancy. We have grown steadily through word of mouth and results, and now it is time to make our first hire. This role is a chance to join at the ground floor, shape how we deliver work and help grow a brand that already punches above its weight.

The role

This role has no fixed hours. In practice you will work around 25–30 hours a week. What matters most is quality and delivery, not clock watching.

You will spend roughly two thirds of your time on client delivery and one third on Edward & James’ own marketing. Our clients are mostly B2B professional services brands: fintech, legal, compliance, wealth management and accounting. They are complicated and technical industries, so being comfortable with detail is important. We also work with clients outside this space too: property, non-profits and travel.

Day to day, you will be involved in both strategy and execution. One week might include drafting LinkedIn campaigns for a law firm, preparing blog content for a fintech, and then switching gears to build Edward & James’ own brand presence.

Key responsibilities

  • Campaign execution – deliver digital campaigns across channels (email, social, search, content), making sure they run on time and with impact
  • Content production – draft and schedule compelling articles, build email campaigns and keep websites updated with sharp, accurate copy and visuals
  • Analytics & optimisation – monitor performance, track KPIs, and make recommendations to improve reach, engagement and ROI
  • Client support – contribute to client deliverables (presentations, reports, collateral) with the same polish we would expect if it had our names on it
  • Tools & platforms – manage the day-to-day in marketing platforms, and suggest smarter ways of working
  • Collaboration – work directly with the CMO (that is me) on strategy and planning, while taking responsibility for executing your part without hand holding

About you

You do not need to tick every box, but the strongest candidates will bring:

  • A formal marketing qualification from a recognised body such as CIM, IDM, mini MBA, AMA or CMA (mandatory)
  • Solid understanding of marketing strategy
  • Experience in B2B marketing, ideally in professional services or fintech
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Evidence of running LinkedIn content for yourself or others
  • Experience working remotely and managing your own time
  • Fluent English speaker (native or C1 level and above), able to write and communicate with clarity and confidence

This role will suit someone who is adaptable, confident in their writing, and comfortable working in a small consultancy environment where no two weeks look the same. If you prefer a rigid job description and fixed hours, this may not be the right fit.

About me

I’m James, founder of Edward & James. Until now this has been a one person consultancy, working with clients in law, fintech, compliance, wealth management and beyond. I’ve built the business on strategy-led marketing that avoids fluff and focuses on impact. Along the way I’ve picked up a PGDip in Digital Marketing and a Mini MBA in Brand Management, and worked across professional services and financial services for more than a decade.

What that means for you is two things. First, you’ll be working directly with me day to day, no layers of management. Second, you’ll get to learn how a consultancy like this operates from the inside, with the freedom to shape your role and make it your own.

To get a feel for my personality, here are a few things I like:

  • Travelling and exploring new cities
  • Anything flavoured with pistachio, it’s a borderline addiction
  • Running, hiking and the great outdoors
  • Coffee, lots of coffee
  • My pug. She will 100% join most of our calls, I’ve raised a very clingy dog and I regret nothing
  • Gossip. We might end up being 5,000 miles away but there will always be time for some goss
  • Books that make me question how we live and work (Bullsh*t Jobs, The Pathless Path and The Almanack of Naval Ravikant rank highly)
  • Bad Bunny. I have no idea what he’s singing but I’m definitely in the top 1% on Spotify
  • Moaning about the weather (I am British after all)
  • Alone time, can’t get enough of it

What is on offer

  • Salary: £20,000 – £30,000 per year (based on ~25–30 hours per week, with flexibility depending on experience and location)
  • Fully remote. Work from anywhere in the world
  • Flexible hours. Work when and how you want
  • Three weeks paid time off per year plus public holidays recognised in your country of residence
  • £1,000 annual allowance to spend on whatever makes work and life better: from a co-working membership to a new desk, an online course, or yoga classes
  • Bi-annual bonus: a little extra twice a year, tied to how we are both doing – the company and you

Extras for digital nomads

  • Genki Traveler Health Insurance (from day one)
  • Revolut Ultra subscription which includes:
    • Unlimited airport lounge access
    • Global eSIM with 3GB monthly data
    • Nord secure VPN and encrypted password manager
    • Comprehensive travel and cancellation insurance
    • A host of 16 premium app subscriptions
  • Access to our software stack such as Adobe, Canva and Perplexity Pro

What you can expect

This role and package have been designed with flexibility and independence in mind. That said, it is a two way street. We are open to shaping the details around the right person, to create a career and a life you will genuinely enjoy.

As the first hire into Edward & James, you will work directly with the founder and be closely involved in shaping how we deliver client work and how we grow the brand. There will be plenty of support, but you will also be trusted to take ownership of projects. We are looking for someone who wants to grow with the business, not just complete tasks on a list.

Applications are open until 28th October 2025. Please apply using [click apply]. It helps us keep everything organised.

We will get back to all applicants no later than 14th November 2025. No agencies and no CVs, thank you.
