Utah Valley University is seeking a creative and organized Marketing Assistant to support the Academic Tutoring department. In this role, you will lead and supervise a student marketing team, serving as project manager to plan, develop, and execute marketing campaigns that promote tutoring services and events. Responsibilities include designing print and digital materials, creating engaging social media content, and maintaining a consistent online presence that connects with students and highlights available academic resources.
This position is well-suited for individuals who thrive in a collaborative, student-focused environment and enjoy combining leadership with hands-on creativity. By overseeing campaigns and analyzing performance data, you will help shape the departmentโ€™s outreach strategy, ensure students are aware of available resources, and make a meaningful impact on student success. Summary of Responsibilities

Supervises and evaluates the overall operation and staff of the marketing team. Leads efforts in brainstorming, planning, and scheduling posts for social media channels. Reviews, analyzes, and reports on social media outcomes to optimize approach. 
Leads in the design of promotional materials, including brochures, posters, ad copy, and web content. Writes and edits press releases for all Academic Tutoring events and announcements. Enforces campus style and graphics throughout department marketing and promotional items. 
Attends department events and represents the department in a professional manner. In collaboration with the department's web developer, assists in the creation and maintenance of websites and conference proceedings. 
Works closely with department staff and other university entities to build audiences in support of Academic Tutoring. Fosters collaboration with other communication specialists to stay up-to-date on University Marketing best practices. 
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.


Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications

Graduation from an accredited institution with an associateโ€™s degree in a closely related field, plus one year of experience related to the Summary of Duties, OR any combination of education and/or experience related to the Summary of Duties totaling three years. 

Preferred Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor's degree in a closely related field plus one year of experience related to the Summary of Duties, OR any combination of education and/or experience related to the Summary of Duties totaling five years.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Knowledge

Knowledge of effective marketing and communication strategies.
Knowledge of graphic design and the creative process.
Knowledge of and experience with different social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, and LinkedIn.
Knowledge of and sensitivity to diverse student experiences in the academic environment.

Skills
Skills in research, analysis, and development to identify program needs, utilize available resources, and create positive program results.
Skills in coordinating promotional events and activities and developing marketing to target particular student groups as appropriate.
Skilled with various software, including Microsoft suite, Google suite, Adobe Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, XD, and/ or Premiere Pro, and/or a willingness and ability to learn new software.
Skilled in both written and verbal communication.

Abilities
Ability to foster academic partnerships with faculty, staff, and students of all disciplines and academic backgrounds.
Ability to supervise, train, observe, and evaluate student employees.
Ability to plan and execute multi-faceted marketing campaigns.
Ability to prepare quality printed materials and professional illustrations in various media.
Ability to solve problems and communicate solutions with coworkers, supervisors, and students.
Ability to maintain accurate files and records.
Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment.
