Doubleback Books is seeking a new Managing Editor. An imprint of Sundress Publications, Doubleback Books revives works that were previously published by small independent presses that closed during the twenty-first century, helping ensure that exciting, important books do not disappear before their time.
The Managing Editor leads a team of genre editors at Doubleback Books and runs the annual Open Reading Period, coordinating with Sundress Publications to solicit manuscripts, coordinates with genre editors to select new manuscripts for publication, set deadlines, and execute contracts. The Managing Editor also coordinates with Sundress Publications on launch dates and materials, organizes a launch online reading, hires and manages genre editors, and coordinates on book covers, ISBNs, and website updates. The position requires less than 10 hours a week and is seasonal.

Doubleback Books is part of Sundress Publications, a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) non-profit literary press collective founded in 2000 that publishes chapbooks and full-length collections in both print and digital formats, and hosts numerous literary journals, an online reading series, and the Best of the Net Anthology. Sundress Publications collective is staffed entirely by passionate volunteers, so this position, like all others at the press, is unpaid.
