IDIOT Magazine is launching its very first issue this September: a Classics issue for writers who believe the literary canon has survived long enough to handle a few difficult questions.

IDIOT is entirely independent and currently run by a very small team. Our budget may be limited, but that does not mean the writing should be free. Small should describe the size of our team, not the value we place on your work.

Selected contributors will receive $100 USD for a 700-word essay, a full byline, author bio and portfolio link, a permanent Founding Contributor badge, and priority access to future paid commissions. You will also have the opportunity to choose which available essay you want to make your own.

Every selected writer will work directly with founding editor Zara Miller, a Forbes Books writer. Your voice stays yours; the edit is there to make your argument shine.

We are looking for original arguments, sharp writing and people with something genuinely interesting to say about books everyone assumes have already been discussed to death. 

Gen Z writers are especially encouraged to submit.
