Growth Marketing Lead

Location: Remote, Africa or Europe timezones preferred

Remuneration: $1300-$2500pm inclusive, commensurate with experience.

Have you ever thought about what it takes to bring a global AI community to life - to turn challenges into movements, and hackathons into stories that inspire thousands? Zindi is looking for a Growth Marketing Lead to help take us to the next level.

Your job will be to shape how Zindi shows up to the world, how our challenges are experienced, and how our ecosystem grows. You will own execution of our user acquisition and engagement strategy, and will work closely with our product and community teams to keep Zindi growing.

The Growth Marketing Lead will drive awareness, engagement, and participation across the Zindi ecosystem. You will own how Zindi challenges, opportunities, and community initiatives are brought to market, from campaign creation and storytelling to community activation and ambassador support.

This role is focused on growing and re-engaging Zindi’s global community of AI and data practitioners through creative, high-impact marketing campaigns and communications across multiple channels. You will work closely with the product, sales, and project teams to strengthen user engagement and platform participation.

We are looking for someone who is creative, scrappy, and highly execution-oriented, takes ownership of their role, and is excited to experiment with new ways to grow a global tech community.

Core Responsibilities

User Growth, Activation & Engagement

Drive campaigns that bring new users to Zindi and encourage existing users to become active participants. This includes:

  • competition launch campaigns
  • onboarding and first-submission campaigns
  • re-engagement campaigns
  • referral and community initiatives
  • launch and ongoing promotion of new platform features
  • helping design user journeys and develop email (and other messaging) sequences based on user activity on the platform

Success metrics include registrations, first submissions, engagement, and monthly active users.

Social Media & Community Storytelling

Own Zindi’s voice across social channels and help bring the brand to life in a way that feels vibrant, global, and rooted in emerging market innovation. Examples include:

  • highlighting winners and community stories
  • promoting ambassadors and events
  • sharing opportunities and ecosystem activity
  • creating engaging social-first content
  • create opportunities for ambassadors be become influencers and multipliers of Zindi’s social media presence
  • collect and re-package videos, images, and other content from ambassadors and from the community

Campaigns & Communications

Execute multi-channel campaigns around competitions, jobs and talent opportunities, ambassador events, platform feature launches, and partnerships and ecosystem initiatives.

  • WhatsApp
  • on-platform communications
  • blogs
  • community platforms

Analytics & Growth Experimentation

Track campaign performance and community engagement metrics, and continuously optimise based on insights. Take a creative, data-driven approach to experimentation, including:

  • referral loops
  • social sharing mechanics
  • ambassador incentives
  • content experiments
  • AI-assisted content workflows
  • lightweight partnerships and growth tactics

Nice-to-Have Capabilities

Candidates should ideally bring experience in at least one of the following areas:

B2B Marketing & Partner Campaigns

Support enterprise and partner marketing efforts through case studies, newsletters, social amplification, and campaigns for clients, competitions, and strategic partnerships.

Content Creation

Create original, high-quality content that can grow engagement and reach across Zindi’s channels.

Examples include:

  • short-form video content
  • community storytelling
  • thought leadership content
  • edited community-generated content
  • social-first creative campaigns

Own the Growth Marketing Strategy

Develop, shape, and own Zindi’s overall growth marketing strategy, identifying the highest-impact opportunities to grow and engage the user base. This includes thinking strategically about how to achieve ambitious growth goals with limited resources, prioritising the most effective channels, campaigns, and partnerships, and translating strategy into practical execution.

Core Skills and Experience

  • 3+ years experience in digital marketing, growth, social media or community roles
  • Proven ability to design and execute successful marketing campaigns using AI marketing tools
  • Strong content creation skills (copywriting, storytelling, campaign messaging) using tools like Canva, Figma, and Claude Design
  • Experience managing social media, email campaigns, and digital channels using tools like SendGrid, MailChimp, HubSpot, and mailmerge
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple campaigns and projects simultaneously
  • Data-driven mindset - comfortable analysing performance and optimising campaigns using tools like Mixpanel, Metabase, Google Analytics, and built-in social media analytics tools
  • Frontier model fluency for automating workflows and content generation

Bonus (Nice to Have)

  • Experience working with tech, startups, or developer communities
  • Familiarity with data science and AI concepts
  • Experience running events, hackathons, or community initiatives
  • Design skills (or ability to work closely with designers)
