Freelance Writers Wanted — Monterey Bay Parent Magazine

We're looking for experienced freelance journalists and writers to contribute 1-2 stories per month to Monterey Bay Parent, serving families across Monterey County.

We're not looking for listicles or event previews. We want writers who can dig into the stories that matter to local families — education equity, children's mental health access, housing pressures on Peninsula communities, the realities facing farmworker families in the Salinas Valley, and more.

What we're looking for:
• Some professional writing experience — newspaper, magazine, or digital journalism background preferred
• Familiarity with Monterey County and its communities
• Ability to develop sources, conduct interviews, and produce well-reported, accurate stories

This is freelance work — 1-2 stories per month — ideal for a working journalist, a recent journalism graduate looking to build local clips, or an experienced writer who wants to contribute meaningfully to their community.
