Summary:
We are looking for freelancers to join our writing team who specialize in digital fundraising or direct mail fundraising or have expertise in both areas.
The Writer has the essential responsibility of understanding the unique voice for all of our non-profit clients and ensuring that voice is reflected in an authentic and meaningful way. In this role, you will develop a broad range of communications, from inspiring high-level concepts to compelling direct mail letters and emails. Equal parts storyteller and technician, you understand the science of direct marketing, but can adapt your style to meet different content needs.
You are passionate about your craft and can inspire others. You will help tell our clientsβ stories all in the name of raising more money. You will collaborate with a diverse range of experts, all motivated to get the best results for clients. You will help lead the creative process in partnership with a designer to create great donor experiences.
What the Role Includes:
Job Responsibilities
- Develop creative concepts in collaboration with key project team members against the creative brief requirements, ensuring the final product meets a high standard of quality and is error-free
- Write direct mail and other compelling marketing copy that delivers on our clientsβ business goals and strategies, across all platforms and channels including direct mail, email, website copy, social media posts, ads for meta and Google Performance Max, as well as other donor-facing communication including newsletters, reports and cases for support
- Know and apply best writing practices for direct mail and donor-centred fundraising
- Ensure a consistent and well-developed client voice across all materials
- Attend internal reviews and kickoff meetings, and respond to feedback with revisions within the timeline specified
- Provide assistance to other writers and freelancers as needed
- Manage multiple copywriting assignments at once
- Prioritize needs and discuss workload with the team
- Work closely with internal teams to ensure weβre meeting client expectations
To be Successful:
- 5+ years of writing experience in direct response fundraising with in-depth experience writing for direct mail fundraising and/or digital fundraising campaigns
- Multi-channel platform writing experience for variable communication pieces (direct mail, digital communications including paid ads, emails and posts)
- Strong organizational skills with a proven track record of meeting deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, ideally with some experience working in an agency setting
- Ability to effectively collaborate and work with a variety of stakeholders, including Writers, Designers, Account Executives, Project Managers, and Developers to ensure client needs are met
- Strong computer skills with experience using Adobe Acrobat Pro and MS Office Suite programs
- Experience working with faith-based clients would be considered a strong asset
