*Writing this post got us into a discussion about the word “freelance” and how its origins relate to medieval mercenaries who offered their weapons (lance) for hire. One of us wanted to use the term “sellswords” from Game of Thrones but “sellswords” sounds better than it reads, and we thought people might think it stood for “sells words” not “sell sword” and that became a whole side discussion and if you’ve read this far and find this scenario relatable or even remotely interesting, then you’re probably the type who’d enjoy working with us.
