Freelance Writer

Hello! Senior Planet is on the lookout for freelance writers to contribute a monthly column on two essential topics: scams/fraud and medical news. If you’ve got a knack for breaking down complex info concisely with clarity and warmth, we want to hear from you!

Scams/Fraud: We are looking for someone who ideally has a background in some aspect of consumer protection/awareness focusing on tech and financial fraud, especially (but not exclusively) frauds and scams involving some aspect of tech. Past columns have covered avoiding travel scams, virtual kidnapping, charity or relationship frauds/scams, and various aspects of identity theft. Here’s a recent sample.

Medical/health: We are looking for a seasoned freelancer familiar with medical and health trends, research, and issues specific to older people of diverse backgrounds. Ideally our candidate would be a member of at least one professional association of medical journalists, who regularly attends medical and health symposia and events, who regularly gets updates from medical/health societies and researchers, with a large database of non-commercial medical industry contacts (universities, medical associations, research companies) – we aren't able to accept Big Pharm or Industry spokespeople.

Our tone is upbeat, forward-thinking, and fun, like you're chatting with a smart friend over coffee. A little snark is welcome, too. Our readers are vibrant adults 60+. They’re curious, tech-savvy, and appreciate writing that respects their intelligence while keeping things conversational and engaging.
