Interested in freelancing for GameDeveloper.com? We're looking to expand our freelancer database and add some new voices into the mix for 2026 and beyond.

What is this form for?

- Commissions: While we're always accepting pitches at features@gamedeveloper.com, we sometimes reach out to freelancers directly to write a piece on a specific topic or subject. By signing up here, you're saying that you're interested in being pinged about commission opportunities.

- Call for Pitches: Occasionally, we send out a 'Call for Pitches' on a specific aspect of game development or burning game industry topic. By signing up here, you'll be included in those future 'Call for Pitch' emails.

What are we looking for in a writer?

- Experience: We're looking for writers with prior experience writing for a video game media site in a freelance or staff capacity. Prior B2B or technical writing experience is a plus but not required.

- Approach: We write for an audience of game developers and game industry professionals. We're interested in publishing articles that include interviews with professionals within game development, developers doing interesting things in the industry, and the minds behind upcoming & anticipated games.

- Angle: Writers should be comfortable asking in-depth questions on the different elements that go into making a game, and should be comfortable translating technical answers to engaging and accessible language for an audience of game makers.

What should you know about freelancing for GD?

- Our per-piece rates for an interview-led feature article start around $300

- We publish 1-3 freelance articles a month

- We write for an audience of game developers, not gamers; every article we publish should have takeaways that improve the work or lives of game developers, increase the accessibility of game development, or have a positive impact on the game industry as a whole.
